it's horrid that Superman isn't getting another film anytime soon but mannnnnnn this Batman is sounding so damn interesting ..... the contrast of nut jobs he'll be speaking with should be masterful

@knocturnalzen10 - I think WB doesn’t really know what to do with Superman because he started this whole franchise and if you reboot him you’re essentially throwing away 3 good movies(Wonder Woman, Shazam & Aquaman) that made them a lot of money. So I just think that they’re going to just keep him in limbo for the time being. But you are absolutely right that it is a shame that Superman isn’t getting his due diligence with being a priority with the DCEU.

@knocturnalzen10 - Superman isn't hard to do BTW. The first thing is the Villain - Literally every Superhero film, at least the ones of importance, Had Lex Luthor & Zod. There are a plethora of Villains you can use to craft & build a formidable story for Superman.

All of this "He's a God & he's to fight other Gods & Aliens", with suggestions of taking him off earth, WHILE COULD WORK, is nonsense when you can tell a perfectly good story.

Next get rid of the the Christ References & the visual representation that he's this overpowered being. You can depower Superman & throughout the Trilogy you have him progress in Strength. We know that Superman is literally the most powerful being earth, you don't have to make it so overt. Max Fleischer did it well. Superman TAS to Justice League Unlimited is the Perfect representation of Superman progression in Strength.

@WruceBayne - I feel like they’ve already not cared that much about interconnectivity, if they just recasted the audience would be willing to pretend the new guy had been there the whole time. Or just go in a new direction/characterization. Aside from Clark being reported dead there really isn’t much baggage they have to address especially if they’re willing to start him and Lois off as a couple.

@OmegaBlack13 - I’m perfectly fine with a recast/reboot in the same continuity and I think the general audience would be too. And their inter connectivity is definitely loose.

@SupremeNative - Superman needs to be depowered anyway. It’s hard to see a person carry a skyscraper and then get into a fist fight with a lunatic in a steel bat costume.
Side note: I don’t care if he did have kryptonite gas in his lungs, the shift of power was to great
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 11/26/2019, 9:01 PM
@WruceBayne - I don't know that I agree with this. Kryptonite is the great equalizer for Superman. Without it, even his least powered versions over the years are more than enough to handle Batman.

I'm sick of the argument that Batman can beat anyone with prep time. They act like that makes him invincible when in reality it's like this, I'm willing to admit that Batman can beat Superman under the perfect circumstances. But that also means that everyone else needs to accept that outside of PERFECT circumstances, Superman is winning that fight. Hands down.

The thing everyone seems to overlook is that even though Kryotonite can seriously hinder Superman, and even de-power and kill him, pretty much every single one of his major villains has used it against him at one point or another, and the ONLY time he's actually been killed is by Doomsday beating him to death.

So yeah. Superman deserves more credit. He's the most powerful superhero in DC, outside of cosmic beings. But even with Krytponite, Batman shouldn't be guaranteed a win. But that also doesn't mean Superman should be scaled down in power. Just give him an legitimate threat to keep him busy during big fights with the Justice League. There are plenty of villains that can go toe to toe with Superman.

WruceBayne - 11/26/2019, 10:18 PM
@CorndogBurglar - you misunderstood me. I totally agree with you that Superman beats Batman EVERY time. Superman is faster than Batman’s reflexes, if you can’t get out of the way of what’s coming how can you win?
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 11/26/2019, 10:51 PM
@WruceBayne - No I understood what you were saying. I just got hung up on you saying Superman should be de-powered. I don't like that idea.
WruceBayne
WruceBayne - 11/27/2019, 2:36 AM
@CorndogBurglar - I feel he should be de-powered because his strength is unmeasurable and inconsistent. One day he can push the moon out of orbit and the next he’s struggling to stop a runaway train.

@SupremeNative - Agreed. Sick to death of Zod & Lex. Bring on Braniac.
SupremeNative
SupremeNative - 11/27/2019, 1:17 PM
@Tasmaniac - Exactly bro. I actually wouldn't bring in Brianic right away. I think it's an unspoken rule if you're doing a Superman Trilogy you either make him the Sequel villain or end the Trilogy with him.

But this notion that Superman is "Hard to Crack" or Is hard to do is GROSSLY Exaggerated. People either overthink Superman or just simply aren't creative enough to make a Compelling story.

I could literally a write a 1-2 paragraph Superman Synopsis that would be compelling. And It wouldn't just being this Crazy Fan Fiction Story.

"There had been chatter that the entire film would unfold in Arkham Asylum, the high-security prison known to comic book fans for housing super-criminals, but that is not the case, according to insiders," the trade reveals."Only a handful of scenes will be set at Arkham."

I'm pretty sure this is referencing the Ben Affleck script, which was reportedly set in Arkham Asylum.

The movie ending in Arkham would be cool .... similar to Law Abiding Citizen where someone is orchestrating events from inside prison

Oh, spoilers for Law Abiding Citizen 2009

I've seen a lot of people freak out about Villains, Story line.

Matt Reeves has stated that it won't be any one particular story. He's most likely taking certain elements from different stories like every other superhero film & fusing it with his Overall Vision/Narrative

So it's not a literal adaptation from Script to Screen of The Long Halloween - Reeves wanted to do a Detective based, Noir-Driven Batman film. The Long Halloween is a representation of a Detective Noir themes, done fantastically for Batman.

Reeves wanted Batman in roughly year 2-4 an Fully Fleshed out Gotham with already established Villains - Long Halloween is a perfect representation of that.

It's very much so going to be a different story narratively with different dynamics on screen to make it interesting.

That whole ‘Escape from Arkham’ seems better suited for a more seasoned or mid-career/nearing end career Batman.

Not sure a young Batman has the experience or has suffered enough at the hands of the inmates to really deliver the emotional punch the premises eludes to.

I like that Arkham will have a role in the movie, but I'm glad that it isnt the key location. To have a true detective story like Reeve has said he wants to do there needs to be a city wide hunt.

This shot alone gives me chills.
