I mean... he's a caped vigilante who dresses like an animal, fights crime, teams up with superpowered beings to stop villains, and has better fighting skills / intelligence than is humanly possible. He even has a sidekick.

Cavill as Superman is neither relevant nor inspiring.

@TheFamousJMC - while I agree with you I don't blame him. I blame lousy writers. I think, personally, with the right material, Cavill can be the Superman HE wants to be

@Darkknight2149 -

How do you make a space immigrant who came to earth in search of a better life relevant?

WB is such a mess that seems to occasionally stumble upon success in spite of themselves.

I've never considered super powers a requirement to be a superhero.

For me, superheroes are characters that can take on threats that normal heroes can't. For example, the Gotham City police has plenty of heroes, but theh aren't capable of taking down the freaks and super-powered villains that attack Gotham every week. Batman can. That makes him a super-hero.

ChrisRed - 12/3/2019, 3:32 AM
Well if superpowers are required then most of Batman’s villains aren't supervillains either. Only a few like Clayface, Ivy and Freeze have super powers.

I don't think you need super powers to be a superhero. Batman has done some pretty super heroic things throughout the decades with the need for powers. It's probably been over 10 years since I've seen the episode of JL where a villian takes all the heros powers away and he can't beat Batman and the heroes (maybe supes) tells the baddie you can't take Batman's power away because it is what makes him (forget the wording)

@Pitydafool - Okay I'm conflating these 2 scenes...its been a decade since I've seen JL & JLU. It does make me really want a real DCEU though

People take this to literally. He's an actor. A very eccentric one at that. He's going to say things a certain way because he's looking from a very unique perspective.I've seen people take his comment to the extreme and suggest that we're going to ge a murderous Batman & Pattinson shouldn't play the role.

Batman from the beginning has always been a Vigilante. He operates outside the law. His methods are often very unorthodox in terms of heroism. Let's be forreal: Batman, though his intentions are good, deep down does this to cope & live out this sadistic fantasy. He a manipulative, Control Freak. A Sadist for Order. Violitie, borderline suicidal, compulsive liar, suffering from ptsd, in this "Never Ending War on Crime."

This proves there are people out there that really view Batman as a slightly Darker Version of Superman. Imo at least. The dude is Insane. Batman has come to have ALL of the traits i've mentioned in his 80 year history.

Even for being ‘just human’ every iteration of the character shows him doing things no human man ever possibly could.
Kurne
Kurne - 12/3/2019, 4:11 AM
... I know he's playing Batman, but frankly every single actor that takes on a superhero role these days says the exact same thing. No matter who it is.

"They're not really a hero cuz reasons. That's definitely what sets it apart from all that other *cough*lame*cough* superhero stuff..."

It's just shady for no reason.

Also this Stigma that Superman is hard to crack & WB doesn't know what to do with the character pisses me off. I really want Superman to have & become a Pop Culture Phenomenon on the level on Batman '89 & The Dark Knight.

People either overthink the character or don't understand the character. Ultimately, they aren't creative enough to craft a compelling story. Out of all the characters Superman is right beside Batman as the easiest.

So many Allegorical tales, it's a shame. You need someone that can actually bring Depth & make it feel epic:

Globalism, Corporatism, War/Militarization, Immortality vs Mortality, Idolatry, Pride, Envy, Terrorism SO MANY THEMES that can apply to Superman.

Nolan made Batman into a Post 9/11 Allegorical Tale about Terrorism. The Escalation of Evil.

PLEASE for the Love of F*cking God, EXPLORE THE ROGUES GALLERY. Superman has a top 3 rogues Gallery. Literally Every Superman movie of Prominence has Features a Forgettable Lex Luthor & Zod, who Always lingerie of of the peoples consciousness.

If you do Lex again making him The Billion Dollar Corporatist Mad Scientist. A Dark Cerebral take on the Character.

Intergang, Toyman, Metallo! Like Come on man Use your Brain!

Sorry for the Long Post but It's not hard! Bruh!

If this Batman isn't a superhero then I'm guessing we're gonna get the kind of douchebag Batman that kills people and burns them alive while having sex in front of them, at this point I rather have WB stop making Batman movies.

It’s al about finding the proper mind set for you to play the character. If to accept Batman as a ‘Superhero’, that might limit Pattinson’s ability to find a human connection that would lead to the vulnerability and emotion required to deliver a powerful and unique performance.

To say Batman is just a man with severe flaws is the window into Pattinson findings that authentic connection then that is what it will have to take.
