THE BATMAN's Matt Reeves Admits He's Thinking About A Trilogy But Stresses The Importance Of The First Film

Matt Reeves continues his press tour for War for the Planet of the Apes but just can't escape those questions about what he has planned for Ben Affleck's Caped Crusader in The Batman.

Previously, director Matt Reeves caused the DC fanboy collective to all nod in agreement with his statements regarding a desire to do a noir, detective-driven version of The Dark Knight and he continues to say all the right things.  When asked by Fandango if he had plans for a Batman trilogy starring Ben Affleck, Reeves admitted he's thought about it but he's not putting the cart before the horse.

"I have ideas about an arc, but really, the important thing is just to start… you have to start with one.  You know, you have to start with a story that begins something."

Of course, Reeves is out promoting War for the Planet of the Apes so he deftly went on to bring the discussion back around to his current film.

"And when [screenwriter] Mark [Bomback] and I began [Dawn of the Planet of the Apes], we knew what our goals were, but we didn’t know how we were gonna get there, and I would say that that more relates to the way that I see a Batman story, is a kind of ambition for a series of stories, but really the most important thing is gonna be to tell a vital first story."

The Batman is currently without a release date but fans should probably expect news on that front later this month at San Diego Comic-Con.
