Just don’t waste him again WB.
Lots of potential for Penguin to be a regular player in a Batverse spanning 7-8 films over 14-15 years.

I doubt he will be. With WB, this iteration of the Batman franchise probably isn't even going to last that long.

The only way it will is if they connect it to a shared universe with the upcoming Supergirl movie, James Gunn's The Suicide Squad, and a few others. The Zack Snyder/Joss Whedon DCEU is being slowly phased out at this point.

@Darkknight2149 - I think it's pretty clear this is a brand new start from scratch from Batman and NOT connected to the Zack Snyder/Ben Affleck continuity anymore. Jeffrey Wright becoming JK Simmons is pretty clear Pattison is not going to become Batfleck someday.

Point me to whoever you're trying to argue against.
Because that's exactly what I just said. The DCEU is pretty much dead at this point, The Batman is a reboot, Supergirl is a reboot, The Suicide Squad is a soft reboot, most of the DCEU films have been cancelled, Wonder Woman 1984 has distanced itself from the word "sequel", ETC.

The only thing left of Zack Snyder's DCEU is Shazam, Aquaman, and the Birds of Prey. That being said, this is Warner Brothers. This iteration of the Batman franchise isn't going to last 7-8 movies unless they connect it to a shared universe.

Please learn to read.

And the fact that you would believe that Robert Pattinson's Batman would last 7-8 movies on its own under WB, not connected to anything, is pretty laughable.

3-4 films would be the best you could hope for, without them connecting it to the Supergirl movie (which is specifically a reboot of the Henry Cavill movies), The Suicide Squad, and other stuff.

@Darkknight2149 - Are you saying the Pattinson Batverse can’t exist for 7-8 films due to not anything content or source material?

WB is about to make their 11th Harry Potter/Wizarding World Film. So...

I just don’t see why Batman needs to show up in other films to make his films work.

Who the hell said anything about there not being enough source material? It's a Batman franchise underneath WB. It's also not even the only version of Batman currently in live action.

The Harry Potter franchise has always been a singular thing (the book series + the movie based on said books), which is why there hasn't been a reboot.

Without a shared universe, this iteration of the Batman movies isn't going to go past 3-4 movies. In fact, if Matt Reeves only stays for a trilogy, it will probably end as soon as he leaves. You can count on that.

7-8 movies is highly unrealistic unless it gets connected to DC's next shared universe. You seem to forget how notoriously reactionary WB is.

"I just don’t see why Batman needs to show up in other films to make his films work."

I also never said that Batman can't work for 7-8 films, or that he needs to be connected to something. You people need to stop putting words in my mouth just because you want 7-8 solo Batman films so [frick]ing badly.

Just because you want something doesn't make it realistic. And just because someone points out that it's unrealistic, doesn't mean they want the exact opposite of what you do.

It isn't going to last because history has clearly shown that WB isn't going to keep a standalone Batman franchise running for 7-8 movies. 3-4 movies and Matt Reeves or Robert Pattinson will leave or WB will just reboot. Nobody said anything about it not working. This is what is known as a strawman fallacy.

"I’m also going to leave this link as your tone is between combative and angry."

My tone didn't get that way until two people in a row began deliberately mischaracterising (or perhaps projecting?) what I had said instead of actually reading it. This link also borders on being what is known as an ad hominem.

And this is why reading is important.

I'm not sure how you got "It would never work!" or "There's not enough source material!" from "This standalone Batman franchise won't be 7-8 movies under WB, unless it they weave it into a long lasting shared universe".

The MCU, DCEU, and X-Men are the only comic book franchises that have ever made it to 7-8 movies.

My first choice was Anthony Hopkins, but I'll give Farrell a shot (even though he's an odd choice). The cast so far has been amazing.

DeVito is a great guy but man was his penguin terrible. I know Burtons Batman sometimes has a weird fan defensive of it but those movies are not good. But it did give us an army of suicide penguins so for that I’m grateful

The winter setting for Batman 2 was inspired. Loved when they copied in in one of the Arkham games.

Inclement weather = best Gotham.
