I liked the movie overall but I’m not a fan of his take on Luthor.

@ChangAlang - I agree he’s brilliant actor and I love some of his lines

But he isn’t really .. lex how I imagine lex would be

I don't know how the star of The Social Network, one of the best written films of the century so far, could call Batman v Superman "one of the most dense scripts [he's] read intellectually", but I guess people contain multitudes

@tmp3 - Maybe he meant dense as "thick and cloudy."

No way he's talking about BvS.

@WakandanQueen - He's talking about Squid and the Whale

It seems more like it took someone only 90 minutes to WRITE the screenplay!

Never really thought about it, but I think that trying to make the script as intellectually as possible is what seriously hurt the movie

@MalseMarcel - No...WB cutting 30 minutes out of the film hurt it. Hell I think if you cut 30 minutes out of The Empire strikes back I would hate it.

@nikgrid - Are you serious hahahaha. The Ultimate Cut is still a [frick]ing terrible film. BvS is one of the biggest cinematic disasters ever. It's an atrocious movie that was never gonna be good with Snyder and Terrio at the helm.

@nikgrid - WB should have cut the entire film and started over from the beginning. Removing 30 minutes from BvS wasn't enough to fix that bloddy mess.
nikgrid
nikgrid - 4/14/2020, 10:39 PM
@RandyOrtonLF - Yeah I am serious hahahaha. BvS is a far more entertaining and better written film than Captain Marvel.

@obredaan - "Removing 30 minutes from BvS wasn't enough to fix that bloddy mess"

Yeah that's what I'm saying. Removing 30 minutes from it doesn't make it better.

Always count on when there is a negative DCEU/Worlds of DC article posted with wildly crazy statements, it is a Josh Wilding contribution.

Sure. WB presented a major actor with a script and gave him 90 minutes to think it over. I'm sure that happened.

"one of the most dense scripts I've read intellectually"

The jokes have seized the means of production and have begun writing themselves

I watched it last night !

To be honest he’s brilliant in it !

Love his whole speech about devils come from the sky

He’s just a very good actor and deserves more credit

Of course he thought it was dense & complex, like 80% of HIS lines are references to philosophy, Greco-Roman mythology, and "smart people" books (eg. Lolita (love the book)). Then giving him 90 minutes to blow through it he probably thought all the dense dialogue was very intense stuff. A script for a movie that ended up being over 3 hours & the script was likely over 4 hours worth of material.

That's normal for this business. Even the Avengers had only a few hours to read and weren't allowed to take scripts out of the studio. Secrecy is so important to these execs. They don't want sites like CBM scooping anything except what they spoon feed us.

Reminded me a bit to the previous news about how Don Cheadle wasn't given too much time either to decide if he wanted to be War Machine.

TBH all those things that were referencing Greek literature didn't do any favours to the movie, it just made it seem too high brow instead of grounding the characters and giving them nuance.
