Reshoots for Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) are now underway, and some photos from the set give us a look at Margot Robbie filming an action sequence on roller-skates.

Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is currently undergoing reshoots, and a tonne of photos from the set have found their way online via Just Jared.

John Wick director Chad Stahelski is overseeing additional photography, and it probably won't come as a surprise that he can be seen helming an action sequence here.

The scene appears to feature Harley (Margot Robbie) hitching a ride from a character on a motorcycle while rocking a pair of roller-skates. The black-clad figure's face is obscured, but judging by the outfit and modified helmet, we reckon it's The Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead).

Check out the pics at the link below, and in case you missed them we also have some screenshots from the new teaser. Birds of Prey is set to swoop into theaters on February 7, 2020.

Harley Quinn

An awesome shot of Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn, who will sport a whole wardrobe of new outfits in this movie.

Suicide Squad was not particularly well received, but Robbie's take on HQ was a highlight for many, so it should be interesting to see how the character develops here without the oppressive presence of The Joker.

Black Canary

A new look at Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary.

We have seen various live-action and animated interpretations of Dinah Lance over the years, but Jurnee's take is expected to be something completely different. Will she sport the character's signature blond locks at any point? We may have to settle for the 'do she's sporting above!

Huntress

Fans have wanted to see Mary Elizabeth Winstead make the jump to the superhero genre for quite a while, so there's a lot of excitement surrounding her role as the ruthless Helena Bertinelli.

Fans of Huntress' comic book counterpart should probably expect some changes to that costume, but continue reading for a very pleasant surprise!

Renee Montoya

Rosie Perez's take on GCPD Detective Renee Montoya remains as much of a mystery as the rest of the new characters, but rumor has it she'll be assigned to track down Harley and the other Birds of Prey before ultimately deciding to join the team.

Montoya is pictured here with Black Canary and Huntress, who definitely appears to be sporting a mask of some description!

Black Mask

Black Mask (Ewan McGregor) will be the main villain of the film, and it's believed that Huntress, Canary, Harley and Montoya will team up to take him down when he kidnaps Cassandra Cain.

Sionis is pictured here either singing or shouting as Dinah performs in the background. Will he mask-up in the movie? We'll have to wait and see.

That teaser was pretty cringey,... Maybe they should reshoot that, too.

;)

I think everything I've seen from this looks pretty good, and really don't get all the the negativity. Then again, I didn't hate Suicide Squad.

@RorMachine - I hated Suicide Squad, but I still think this movie looks pretty good. I think Suicide Squad left such a bad taste in so many people's mouths their view of this movie is warped slightly, which I get, but Harley was by no means what was bad about that movie

@noahthegrand - Harley was one of the bad things about that movie, actually... Its the one role Margot is not putting 100% in for some reason.

Or she's using that 100% weirdly.

@RorMachine - At this point of production at least Suicide Squad made an attempt to show that there was some effort put into the other characters in the movie.

@Kurne - @Kurne - @Kurne - See, I feel like most of her character’s problems were down to the terrible script. Unlike say, Joker, or Rick Flagg, where I think they were bad performances. Flagg’s actor wasn’t trying, Jared Leto was trying way too hard. Katana has two lines and contributed nothing. Enchantress was far too over the top for a movie that should have a small scale. At least in my opinion. A lot of bad acting comes down to casting and the director not pushing the actors the right way in my mind though.

@RorMachine - The teaser looked alright but there is still plenty of which one could be skeptical about. I'm cautiously optimistic but the one thing that bugs me is how much of a departure this seems to be taking from the comics. I love the Dixon and Simone runs and I'm seeing almost none of that influence whatsoever.

OFF topic

Sony Pictures chief Tony Vinciquerra says that the door is closed on Tom Holland's Spider-Man being part of the MCU & that Spider-Man will be joining their Venomverse, teaming up with the likes of Venom and Morbius.

It’s going to have to have a hell of a good real trailer to turn me around on this at all.

John Wick 3 came out right in the middle of my end of year exams so I ended up missing it, but Stahelski's direction in the first 2 films was awesome, so these pick-ups will at least have some great action (something that Suicide Squad really didn't have)

Im genuinely surprised people aren't immediately taking this as a sign the movie's gonna flop. I mean, I see people here already made up their minds (im really not looking forward to this myself) but so many take the news of reshoots as shorthand for the studio trying to "save" a movie they lost faith in when literally every movie is reshot and given additional edits pretty much up until the moment its given its premiere. Nice to see us as a community learning.

@Origame - One reason is because THR, who broke the story, said it's nothing more than pick-ups for action sequences, and another reason is because they logically can't be that extensive considering Robbie's gonna be in Atlanta in 2 weeks to start shooting Suicide Squad 2

Adding final touches then.

I thought the teaser was good for now, it's well edited and all that. What is going to matter is the reception of the first trailer and how they handle some of the characters like Cassandra Cain and specially Black Mask.

Just saw It, my audience was pumped after the teaser. I can see apprehension from comic book fans, but there truly hasn't been enough to go off of to say the movie will be straight up bad. I'm personally excited to see more DC characters on screen in any interpretation.
MericawithanM
MericawithanM - 9/5/2019, 9:36 PM
@Iloverihanna - I agree with you about seeing any interpretation that we can get but with the interconnected giant universe, I prefer the interpretations to be closer to the source material. That's why I wish the movie wasn't part of the DCEU and instead was its own thing, kind of like what they are doing with joker.

@Iloverihanna - Just got home from It chapter 2, I thought it was pretty good, not as great as the first, but still really fun and scary.

This is actually kind of funny but my audience felt the complete opposite. Most of em laughed including some woman behind me who just flat out said "what the [frick]?". I could feel the cringe in the entire theater 😂

I hope the new trailer comes out soon enough. I like what has been shown so far, even though it's just 10 seconds, and I do like Cathy Yan's previous work.

I'd like to see a comic-accurate looking Black Mask in the full trailer, though.
