Nope. It's uniqueness, isn't a valid enough reason. The Joker movie wasn't intended to be for the masses. The Dark Knight Trilogy wasn't either. There was a false assumption by WB, that the general audience were craving a Margot Robbie/Harley Quinn-led movie. Before and after the trailers. That she was the reason Suicide Squad made so much money. Those assumptions turned out to not be completely accurate.

I can't comment on the Harley Quinn and friends movie, seeing as I didn't see it, it just didn't look like a movie I wanted to see.

I will say this though, hopefully WB go back to looking at making movies for the original Justice League members, instead of all these side characters.

I feel like there is missed potential with not taking another shot at a Green Lantern or Superman movie.

I know he isn't the most well known out of the founding members of the Justice League, but I think a Martian Manhunter film could be great.

It also is just crazy to think we still haven't seen a Flash film and it is honestly surprising. With Sonic being a hit now is the time for a speedster superhero movie. Maybe even a Green Arrow and Arsenal film, seeing as Arrow just ended.

I think Teen Titans or Young Justice also has huge potential and could go after a younger market that isn't being filled right now, with a team full of teenagers.

I know it isn't going to happen, but I really wish WB would find a way to bring Justice League Dark out. They did a phenomenal job with Swamp Thing, before it was cancelled and just imagining what a movie with Constantine, Zatanna, Phantom Stranger, Deadman and Etrigan joining up with Swamp Thing could look like is something that could be really special.

Another property that I feel like is being wasted is The Books of Magic. That has huge potential to get the Harry Potter fan base and could be a great way to introduce lots of people to the magic side of the DC universe too.

I just hope someday soon WB finally finds out how to utilize all their great DC properties, because as a comic book fan, I want to see them and see them succeeding.

It's not that no one wanted to see a Harley Quinn movie. It's not that no one wanted to see a Birds of Prey movie.

The problem is that they sold a Harley Quinn movie as a Birds of Prey movie, with little resemblance to the characters. Why they chose to inject Harley in the BoP franchise as an ally, I'll never know.

Fans at large would have wanted to see Harley go on this character journey, but with Poison Ivy and Catwoman. Not barely realized versions of Huntress, Montoya, Cassandra, and Canary. The logical step for Harley's character after a Joker breakup is more akin to what the DCUniverse animated Harley Quinn show is currently depicting. I don't quite know how DC continues to produce above average quality animated projects for their properties, but the film division is completely off the mark.

@VicSage - The problem was that they thought a spin-off of one of the most reviled CBMs in recent history could be profitable.

Although I only speak for myself, I think a reason it doesn't do the big numbers because there is no need to watch it in cinemas.
