File this firmly in the rumor category, but according to Twitter user DanielRPK - who has been on point with DC movie info in the past - Andi Mack actress Peyton Elizabeth Lee might be a contender for the role of Cassandra Cain in Birds of Prey.

Warner Bros. and director Cathy Yan are said to be casting a very wide net to cast this role, so even if Lee is one of the young actresses that has read for the part, she most likely has a lot of competition.

At any rate, we'll keep you guys updated if we hear more. In the meantime, let us know how you think Lee would do as Cassie and be sure to share your own pick to play the character in the usual place.

I saw her in a few episodes of Shameless, and from what ive heard her disney show is good, so as long as she is a good actress, i guess give her a shot. Dont know if she can do the physical stuff for the role, but thats what stunt doubles are for.

Cant wait to see Cassandra in Gotham season 5.

@dracula - David Cain as a child appears in Season 4 finale, it's very unlikely we'll see his daughter in any capacity.

@MinoMininni - Well they havent confirmed who the kid was. Plus Lady Shiva is going to appear, pretty sure as an adult, so if David is in it, probably would be around her age. Plus since there is no way any versions of the robins can appear, or Barbara Gordon, it would be nice to have at least some type of representation of bruce's future adopted family. Sure its not 100% like the comics, but Gotham has always done its own thing with its interpretation of the batman mythos, and its not like its a prequel to any specific version of batman

@dracula - I like the way "Gotham" departs from the comics doing its own thing (well, not always, I do think that Lee's evolution is pretty dumb, as well as I don't like the way they treated the Falcones, Carmine not included), but the kid was credited as Orphan, the nickname used by David in the new continuity, he was accompanied by Mother, and he was portrayed by a male boy, Nico Bustamante, who's very very young. I'd like to see Cassie show up as well, but "Gotham" doesn't seem to be the place it'll happen.

@MinoMininni - Who knows, maybe Gotham wont use David or Cassie, could be a new take or Orphan, they did that with Firefly. Guess were just going to have to wait as see. Im still hoping for Cassie, especially since Lady Shiva is showing up. If it is an original take or Orphan it could be Martin, he was mute, and did have a few violent tendencies

I'll never understand why Fox and now DC cast children to play X-23 and Cassie Cain. It limits the stories they can tell. Yeah, they could age them up and recast in the next installment but if they're gonna do that there's no point casting them young to start with. Just rewrite the script so the character is older.

I mean it won't happen now, but after Logan there was talk of an X-23 film. It's a good idea in theory, but unless she was an adult or at the very least 18, 19, there would have been no point telling that story. She was a boring character in Logan anyway and that's because she was a kid. I can't really imagine people going to see an X-23 film if the character in question is still a child.

The only way to tell an interesting story involving a character like Cassie as a child is through flashbacks. Have her be in her late teens, early 20's in Birds of Prey with flashbacks to her childhood throughout the film. We want these characters on screen, but as they're portrayed in the comics. I'm 27. I can't relate to children anymore, but I can relate to teenagers and young adults.

@TerryTerrapin - well she is actually 14 years old, still young but the characters are obviously going to get older over time, like Hit Girl in the Kick Ass movies, as long as the actress can pull it off, not a problem. Plus would be nice to see her develop in the Birds of Prey movies, and maybe not become batgirl until a solo movie

@dracula - I can get on board with characters being 14, 15, but only if the actor is older. The reason why is because I find it more believable.

India Eisley played a 12 year old in Underworld: Awakening and she was 18 when they shot that, but I bought it because she looked about that age. Even if you look at her now she could pass for 16.

So hiring a baby-faced 20 year old to play a 14, 15 year old isn't out of the realm of possibility. For starters it'll make production much easier because minors aren't allowed to film scenes after a certain time and since this would be set mostly at night, it'd be wise to cast someone who you don't have to revolve the production schedule around.

Secondly a physical, athletic 20 year old playing a 14 year old kicking arse like John Wick is easier to buy than a 14 year old kicking arse like John Wick. Even if they hire a stunt double for this girl, seeing her in a normal scene and then seeing her double in fight scenes would be too hard to buy into. She's too sweet-looking, even if they grunge her up a bit, she's still a 14 year old trying her hardest to be a stone-cold killer.

@TerryTerrapin - sure they can get young looking actresses, but in some cases young actors still pull this stuff off really well.
Chloe Grace Moretz in the first Kick Ass
Dafne Keen in Logan
Millie Bobbie Brown in Stranger Things

The court of the owls would have to be the villains of the film, and Cassandra Cain Talon's sidekick.
dracula
dracula - 8/8/2018, 10:10 PM
@Repian - no need to change Cassandra's origin, to tie her to the court, the villain could be Lady Shiva, maybe take inspiration from the League of Shadows arc from the James Tynon run of Detective comics, with the obvious change of leaving out batman and having Cassandra start out on her mothers side, then maybe end it with her turning against Shiva and being taken in by the Birds, but not become batgirl until a solo movie

Mattygrand - 8/9/2018, 6:26 AM
@Repian - well considering that Black Mask is reportedly the villain and the Court doesn’t factor in whatsoever, I highly doubt that, nor would I want it

If David Cain appears in the film, Eric Bana is perfect to play the role. Munich and Hanna are films that make him the ideal actor.
TerryTerrapin
TerryTerrapin - 8/8/2018, 10:32 PM
@Repian - Keanu Reeves would be my pick. He's my personal pick for Deathstroke, but he'd make a good David Cain too. I like Keanu for him because he's wooden and stiff. That's why I like him as an actor. He can fvcking act when he wants to, but for the most part he plays every character with the same deadpan expression and monotone voice.

And I think he'd be able to play a proper mean bastard with no emotions, a true narcissistic sociopath. Someone who views his daughter as a weapon and nothing more.

Damn, i can't believe we're getting Cass!
I guess they will build the whole Batfamily eventually, so we'll see Dick, Tim, Jason, Damian and shit, maybe even Spoiler!
dracula
dracula - 8/9/2018, 3:00 AM
@Doomsday8888 - Probably wont get all the robins, but for sure Dick, Tim seems the least likely, since for Jason you can do Red Hood, Damian is the son of Batman. Tim is probably the best robin, and probably has the closest relationship with Batman, but not sure where they can fit him in, pretty sure they wont make a Red Robin movie, and they probably wont do Teen Titans since they have the show

Please, let her be Batgirl, not Orphan...
dracula
dracula - 8/9/2018, 3:02 AM
@MinoMininni - Since shes younger, i say start her off as Orphan, have Lady Shiva be one of the major villains in the film, and end the film with Cassandra turning against her mother and being taken in by the Birds OF Prey, then turn her into Batgirl either in Birds Of Prey 2 or a solo batgirl film. Have Barbara/Oracle mentor her for a while and teach her to speak.
