It always amazes me how long it sometimes takes for this site to report on movie news. I’ve seen this reported everywhere else but here in the past 11 hours.

God forbid we have to ever wait that long for a Top 10 Article of Things You Clearly Don’t Care About

"He is not a superhero, but rather a champion."

So he's not gonna be a villain then? Hope they atleast make him an anti-hero

Hero for some, Villain for others.
Anti-Hero most of the times, it is what it is...

The Peo-errr Kahndaq's Champ.

Every action he takes.
Not matter how violent or how cruel.
Is for the greater good...of his people.

Aight, well said.

Can only speak for myself, but he's pushing all the right buttons with me.

From DC Fandom to...pretty much everything i'm reading/seeing has my hyped.

If i had to guess, i'd say that Dwayne knows the potential of a capeshit movie, he wants to build a franchise, this is not just any other role for him, he wants to go balls deep in this shit and he aims to work his way to the top by adopting every single trick he learned from his wrestling days.

And when it comes to this shit, you best believe he's a real pro.
I don't like all that "power shift in the DCU" talk, i think it's cringy, but i know why he's saying all those things.

The Rock knows the power of "beefs" he's famous for it, and sometimes if you want to be at the center of everything, you gotta share the spotlight with someone else.
Stone Cold Steve Austin, John Cena, JSA, Captain Marvel, Superman etc...

I CAN SMELL WHACCHU COOKIN'!!!

@Doomsday8888 - Yeah...I think it would mean more if the DC movies were more cohesive and didn't have all the drama surrounding them. In particular, would help if all the heroes(and their rogues galleries) in the JL had been successfully launched, then it would feel more impactful when/if this movie and Black Adam interpretation does well.

Right now it feels like, even if it is really good, he does a great job and the audience receives his character with open arms...it doesn't matter. There is no one that comes to mind that is the DC movies that I see him struggling with or having a struggle for power with.

Actors have been fired, moved on, or pushed out and characters not given any justice...its all just been underhwhelming...(unfortunately). His character is just really really late to the game at this point. lol

@Turtlestrong
On one hand, i feel like i totally agree with you.

But paradoxically enough, it is BECAUSE of the chaos surrounding the DCEU that The Rock is able to have this kinda...leverage, i think.

Suppose he was playing a Marvel character in the MCU, i highly doubt that he would've been able to do the kinda things he aspires to do here with DC.

Granted he can't fully depend on a well-oiled and well-built shared universe, but i'm sure he will do everything in his power to make the Black Adam franchise a top dog in this bizz.

Not saying that in the MCU the stars don't have any kind of influence, but who are we kiddin, we all know that Feige is the one calling the shots, no need to deny that.

With WB, we don't even have "DC Studios", something akin to Marvel Studios, so we don't have one single guy in charge of everything (a lifelong mistake) but you know...at least in THIS small corner of the grand DCU, The Rock will have the final say and he'll scream SHAZAM!

All in all, shit's kinda ironic to me, dunno how i feel about all of this, in the end i reckon i just need Dwayne to be self-aware enough to realize that he's more of a producer, he knows how to sell things, he's incredibly good at it, but to MAKE things and make good? Hopefully with this initial jump start, he'll be able to depend on good/great writers/directors from now on.

Even the cast seems good, so we have that.

@Doomsday8888 - True, he knows how to make the sale. I hope it works out for him, its been a long time coming. Close to a decade or more now, right?

Maybe there is room to turn it around after his movie for the DCEU. There is no reason why DC couldn't have a legendary list of movies that hits the same way as their animated shows and movies do.

This description makes me want to see the movie.

However his previous statement calling this movie as ''brutal fun,'' made it sound like a typical The Rock B-movie.

Dwayne was never going to take the role of BA we’re to be a straight villain.
Turtlestrong
Turtlestrong - 5/23/2021, 4:42 AM
@LilJimmy - Yep...he wants his version of the character to essentially be what Henry Cavill Superman should of have been. Not in personality or anything, but in popularity. And frankly he might get it since there is nothing else to turn to in the DC movies right now.

Its like what power shift, there is no power...the whole universe is looking at getting rebooted, non-existent, and/or might be under different leadership in a few years who has a different vision...so none of this matters now. lol
