SILVER & BLACK Director Weighs In On Bringing Silver Sable And Black Cat To The Big Screen
Gina Prince-Bythewood is taking the helm of Spider-Man spinoff Silver & Black and she talks here about the responsibility that comes with that and her excitement to bring the duo to the big screen.
Silver & Black will revolve around Spider-Man supporting characters Silver Sable and Black Cat (hence the title), a strange combination but one which stands a chance of being very cool if it's handled the right way. It's up to director Gina Prince-Bythewood to make sure that's the case when she takes the helm of the female-led superhero movie and she's now told Vulture where things currently stand.
"The strange thing is, I knew I was the best person for this," Prince-Bythewood explained after confirming that she's currently working on script revisions for the project. "Normally I get nervous regardless of what it is when I go into a meeting but with this, I saw the movie in my head as I was reading it, and it’s an exciting thing as a director when you know what you want to do with it. I was able to be so specific, so it was exciting in those meetings because everything I was talking about, they loved. We were feeding off each other." Despite that, Silver & Black still has no release date.
However, the director is hoping to start the casting process soon so that production can begin this fall. "I go to bed thinking about it, I wake up thinking about it, and during the day, I have my notebook where I’m jotting down ideas and visuals and music. It’s so up my alley in terms of these two female characters and who they are and what they’re about. It’s the perfect way for me to dive into the Marvel universe, to focus on these two women who I really respect and can’t wait to bring to life."
