So far, the upcoming MCU movies like Black Widow, Shang-Chi, The Eternals and Spider-man : No Way Home don't really hype me as much as the MCU used to back in the day (for No Way Home, it's mainly because Far From Home was such a huge disaster that I lost all interest in that incarnation of the character).

I'm really looking forward to that Black Panther sequel to reinvigorate my interest in the MCU right now. I believe in Ryan Coogler, he's one of the best directors to have ever worked on the MCU.

You really believed that he was a KING because he was one

@BlackBeltJones - That being said, though I love Black Panther, I kinda regret that the popular success of that movie has overshadowed the other movies that Chadwick Boseman has made and in which he was also great. He was far more than just T'Challa, a fantastic actor.

42 is still the definitive Chadwick Boseman movie for me.

@Waddles - I bet changing your name from 'Waddles' to something else would be a good start. :)

@Amuro - He was an incredible actor, the only problem I had was that he was beginning to be the "go to guy" for iconic Black biopics. While he did a phenomenal job with each one, I think that I would've chosen a different actor for "Thurgood Marshal" and James Brown, I still enjoyed his talent. There are however MANY, other Black actors out there looking for work that could've also benefited from the other two roles. Either way, I still love Chadwick's work and humanitarianism. May he Rest In Power.

He seemed like a really selfless dude. Knowing that the MCU will likely try to hold off on rebooting, for as long as possible, he'd totally want them to recast T'Challa, so that the character's story could continue.

@99OPTIMISTPRIME - exactly. Like, they're talking about how he'd want the franchise to continue but ignoring how they're essentially killing off the character that IS HIS LEGACY (don't know in story what's going on but if they aren't recasting then for the story he's basically dead to the audience)
Blastaar
Blastaar - 4/14/2021, 10:52 AM
@99OPTIMISTPRIME - ABSOLUTELY!!! He would DEFINITELY want them to recast if he had any say in it or knew that he wouldn't be able to continue. Imagine if he had still been alive, but just unable to do it due to illness or injury.

If only that thought process could extend into recasting the role.

Black Panther was one of my favorite characters growing up. I really enjoyed the movie. I just have no interest in going to see Black Panther 2 with no Black Panther in it.

You know what Boseman wouldn't want? He wouldn't want the character of T'Challa to be benched because he's no longer there.

RECAST THE CHARACTER. The actor is dead, not the character!

May I submit Nigerian-Brit, Damson Idris?

I hope this comes across right, because I really do mean well, but I find it a little odd how all these reactions are only speculation on what he would have wanted. I know Boseman wanted to keep things private, and I completely respect him for that, but I do wonder if he left letters or even included in a will his wishes for the franchise. It’s entirely possible that he did do that, though, and we’re just not aware of such details.
MyCoolYoung
MyCoolYoung - 4/8/2021, 7:11 AM
@WeaponXCII - I guess it would depend on if he had the time. By the accounts I read, he thought he’d beat it and it’s possible when it progressed it progressed too quickly to even get around to that.

I have thought of the possibility. Maybe people know more than they’re leading on out of respect for his wishes but it’s not even worth thinking about

@MyCoolYoung - @Waddles - Thinking about my initial comment again, I feel like he probably made time for what mattered most, and to think our entertainment should be high on that list feels kind of narcissistic now. Kind of what people mean when they talk about fandom toxicity, huh? Maybe not one of my prouder moments....
MyCoolYoung
MyCoolYoung - 4/8/2021, 3:20 PM
@WeaponXCII - nah I didn’t take it as narcissism. From the outside looking in, it seemed like Chadwick was a very caring and giving individual. Obviously he had to put out entertainment over himself because he was battling these demons while still actively filming and making appearances.

Your comment wasn’t toxic at all in my opinion

I can’t imagine how they feel and will feel on that set. It has to be tough because they actually knew him and saw the type of man he was. I’ve never cried or even been emotional over someone passing that I didn’t really know, but for some reason this one hit different.

The video of him crying because the kids didn’t make it, the silent pain he went through while giving extraordinary performances was just overwhelming to read. I feel like the world lost a great and a legend but it stung like it was my brother. I really couldn’t believe it and still can’t.

I don’t envy Coogler nor marvel but I trust him. He puts so much thought and care into what he does which is why I believe he doesn’t take a whole lot of projects at once.

Am I the only one that believes that Chadwick Boseman would have wanted the character to continue on without him?

The significance of the character, and what he stands for should mean more than the actor that plays him.

To me, it’s a mistake to off a character based on the tragedy of the real-world demise. For example: If Adam West had passed on while playing Batman, and WB/DC decided to never recast the character... look at all the great movies and stories that we would have missed out on. Boseman would have understood this about the character of T’Challa and wanted the story to continue.

Yup, nothing to do with potentially over billion dollars just from B/O. Not counting merchandises, streams and physical media sales. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I request a recast. Chadwick will be missed, but I feel we need to honor the character he built and created by keeping T'Challa alive.

Still can't get over the fact that Marvel has retired the character of T'Challa

Blastaar
Blastaar - 4/14/2021, 11:13 AM
@WakandaTech - After just ONE solo movie, yes Chadwick will be missed. But the "character" could live past ALL of us. Look how long Superman and Batman have been around.

This man had courage in excess. You can’t know how tough what he did was day in and out unless you’ve lived that. Even knowing someone with cancer and losing them is not as tough as living with it. But to live your best life, caring about others, putting them before yourself; this man had true balls of steel.

I'm just looking forward to Tchalla returning to the mcu. Hopefully it doesn't take marvel more than a few years to recast him. Probably gonna pass on bp2 and come back for bp3 when they are finally ready to progress the story again.

Yeah, the charisma Boseman brought to the role will be missed.
