BLACK WIDOW Deleted Scene Makes Sense Of That Ending And Seemingly Teases The Thunderbolts BLACK WIDOW Deleted Scene Makes Sense Of That Ending And Seemingly Teases The Thunderbolts

A deleted scene from Black Widow has found its way online which finally makes sense of that apparent plot hole and may even tease General "Thunderbolt" Ross' plans to assemble a team of his own in the MCU.

Black Widow received positive reviews from fans and critics, but there was one part of the movie that just didn't seem to work for many people. We are, of course, referring to that awkward jump at the end when we go from seeing General Ross and his men closing in on Natasha Romanoff to her suddenly being free and clear with a new haircut (and absolutely no explanation).

Director Cate Shortland previously offered an explanation by saying, "That was intentional, because we wanted to leave the question of how she would get away, rather than allow the audience to get exhausted by another fight. We wanted to leave you guys on a high with the question of how did she use her ingenuity? I would say, she bargained her way out of that situation. But I don't know."

Well, now we do know thanks to a deleted scene from the movie that has found its way online.

Ross arrives and learns that Natasha took down the Red Room all by herself before placing her into custody. However, in this ending, Red Guardian, Yelena Belova, and Melina Vostokoff didn't bring Taskmaster with them and she's instead taken by the General. This feels a lot like a Thunderbolts tease, and it was previously rumoured that Ross might go on to assemble that team.

Marvel Studios might have changed course on that front, but we do later learn how Black Widow managed to escape from Ross. Why this ended up on the cutting room floor is hard to say.

Yeah I never saw her escaping as a plot hole. If anything the plot hole is how Ross even knew Natasha was there.

@Origame - I think it's moreso, to me, dumb, that the episode ended that way at all.

@dagenspear - yeah, I just saw that and I was like "yeah, this is definitely a script written in 11 days".

@Origame - I thought it was made clear that she activated a substitute tracker, the original being left with her phone at the beginning of the movie.

@JDL - ...where did they make that clear? And why? Based on their plan Ross and his men are literally nothing but a hindrance.

It was intentionally stupid right? Explain Ross knowing exactly where she was and timed it perfectly after the sky fortress(lmao) crumbled

Ross not noticing the Red Room crashing is kinda odd, but other than that I like this ending a lot more. Should've made the Quinjet scene a mid-credit scene instead

@bkmeijer - apparently the change was made for ambiguity.

That didn't need to be explained at all. I was glad the film didn't feel the need too, especially after tons of needless exposition and flashbacks in the third act.

@WakandanQueen - But it makes no sense for her to stay in the first place.

I kind of get deleting it…. Letting herself be captured for 5 minutes instead of leaving on the helicopter doesn’t make much sense. I guess with it deleted, you could imagine (or they could later reveal) something more significant.

@Chewtoy - The movie could've had her leave with them on the helicopter, instead of staying for no reason.

she has a thumb drive with the locations of widows all over the world. i just assumed she negotiated freedom with Ross with that thumb drive.

This should have been included in the film, no reason to have cut it.

I like the idea of this scene and the scene between Ross and Natasha. And the music.

This is just as dumb as what was in the movie. Massive plot hole, or just bad writing all together.
