Empire has shared a new official still from Marvel's Black Widow, giving us another look at Natasha Romanoff's (Scarlett Johansson) tense face-off with Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh).

We know from the trailers that these two trade blows during this scene, but we assume they will put their differences aside once they get it out of their system.

Although Belova's role in the MCU moving forward has yet to be confirmed, the prevailing theory is that Natasha's fellow Red Room assassin will ultimately wind up taking on the Black Widow mantle following her "sister's" death in Endgame. The fact that Pugh has been confirmed to reprise the role for the Disney+ Hawkeye series would seem to back this up.

Back in March, Disney officially announced that Black Widow would debut on Disney+ Premier Access at the same time it hits theaters. The Cate Shortland-directed prequel was set for a theatrical release on May 7 before being pushed back to July 9, and will now be made available to Disney+ subscribers for an extra $30.

Black Widow finds Natasha Romanoff "confronting the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger. Joining Johansson in the new feature film are Florence Pugh as Yelena, David Harbour as Alexei/The Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz as Melina."

To be honest the movie should have happened a LONG time ago. Massive oversight on Marvel's part. DC beat them to the punch with WW.

@Blergh - dc won the race but at what cost. Captain marvel was a way better first female led franchise film. Marvel can keep taking their time as long as most of the projects are good

This is a "face off"? Are we sure they aren't just talking to each other? Neither one looks like they are about to kick the other's ass or anything.

If this a "face off", then I have "face offs" with people every almost every day (albeit while wearing face masks).

I hate to admit it, but there are very few superhero movies I’m excited to see. I used to super excited about each installment of the mcu. But I got closure with endgame and they haven’t really been able to reel me back in. I hope they do: I loved the mcu. But The only way i see that happening is rebooting X-men and fantastic four, fixing hulk and making better use of spiderman. But these half hearted attempts to introduce and reinvent 3rd tier heroes like Cap marvel, the black girl from Wandavision and Falcon isn’t doing it for me

I couldn’t care less about black panther 2, the marvels, that movie Angelina Jolie is going to be in(the eternals I think?), The rumored falcon movie, or Thor 4.

Spiderman 3 is probably the one I’m most interested in and it’s not even technically a marvel studios property.
Besides that it’s black widow and that’s because it’s going to be set prior to endgame.
Dr. Strange and the Loki show could be good. Gotg3 should be fine
