Alison Brie Speaks On CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER And The Russo Brothers

Ultimately playing coy about her potential involvement in the sequel, Alison Brie, one of many contenders for the female lead of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, weighs in on the reports.

While notifying the Community actress about the viral photoshopped image with her donning Captain America's duds (pictured below), in the interim of the Sundance Film Festival, MTV News received somewhat of an update from Alison Brie about past reports which claimed that she's in contention for an unnamed lead role in Marvel's Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Check it out!

“Many, many a person have sent this [photo] to me on Twitter, actually. I'm impressed with the abs. I'm down with it. Are you kidding? I love it. I'm going to go break Chris Evans' kneecap, because obviously the second-best person to step into that role is me.” Playing coy after being asked if The Winter Soldier reports are true, Brie says, “I wouldn't be opposed to it.” About the movie's directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, who she's quite fond of from Community, Alison Brie shares, “I'm excited that they're going to do it. I think they're incredible. Everything they do is incredible. It'll be a nice change for those Marvel superhero movies, to have a fresh take on it.”

Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” will pick-up where the highly anticipated film “Marvel’s The Avengers” leaves off, as Steve Rogers continues his affiliation with Nick Fury & the peacekeeping organization S.H.I.E.L.D, and struggles to embrace his role in the modern world. Starring Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Frank Grillo, Emily VanCamp, Toby Jones, Cobie Smulders with Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson, and directed by Joe Russo & Anthony Russo from a screenplay by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures and is scheduled for release on April 4, 2014. In addition to “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” Marvel Studios will release a slate of films based on other iconic Marvel characters including “Iron Man 3” on May 3, 2013; “Thor: The Dark World ” on November 8, 2013; “Guardians of the Galaxy” on August 1, 2014; “Marvel's The Avengers” sequel on May 1, 2015; & “Ant-Man” on November 6, 2015!
