Captain Marvel flew onto tracking today, and early industry estimates are predicting that Marvel Studios' next sure-to-be blockbuster will reach $100 million over the course of its opening weekend on March 8.

Typically, Marvel's solo origin movies come in just under the $100M mark (exceptions being the first Iron Man and, of course, Black Panther), so this would be an impressive feat for Brie Larson's space-faring hero - although Deadline's report does seem to suggest that a hundred mil might be a generous estimate.

Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast still stakes claim to the highest March opening weekend ever with $174.7M, followed by Warner Bros.' Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice with $166M.
