Earlier today, the first reviews for Captain Marvel blasted online and with that come a fresh set of box office projections. According to The Hollywood Reporter, tracking is currently pointing to the Marvel Studios movie debuting in North America with a mighty $125 million - $145 million. Some analysts believe it could go as high as $150 million over the weekend.

Whatever happens, it appears as if Captain Marvel is going to score the second-biggest opening for a Marvel Studios movie that introduces a new character behind only Black Panther. It should also top Wonder Woman's $103 million which is an impressive feat.

Overseas, Captain Marvel is taking aim at a massive $150 million opening as it's debuting in every territory except for Japan. In case it wasn't clear, all the signs are pointing to this being a massive box office hit and that's a good sign for Marvel Studios heading into Avengers: Endgame next month.

Are you guys excited for Captain Marvel? As always, share your thoughts in the comments section.

@knocturnalzen10 - oh okay, I've got several Brie gifs too, naturally. Lol!!

I still think my signature gif is Tombstone's "that's a fact." But the hot damn gif applies to such much, hence why I use it in a bunch of articles covering different news.

@Fanmar16 - I love this kind of Superman-esque imagery, and it's something the MCU doesn't have much of. I'm glad this is one of Carol's contributions to the universe.

The way Monica looks up to Carol as she flies away is inspirational as [frick].

Gonna be her own turn soon.

I'll be intrigued to see what the actual figures are and how it compares. See if the controversy affects the numbers at all....

@OptimusGrime - Is trolling really controversy though?

@Shroombeast -
The larger controversy is the labelling of known reviewers who have reviewed countless movies getting called sexist for simply not liking Captain Marvel.

That's kind of been dwarfed by the noise of the sheer amount of actual sexism directed at the film. I suppose it's natural that some fans would be feeling a little over defensive by now, but 🤷🏻‍♂️
