1. It cannot be said enough how much Lashana elevates the emotional core of this movie the second she appears on-screen. SO MUCH of this movie wouldn't work if she didn't sell the shit out of her performance and shift the tone into where it needed to be.

2. One of the best things about this movie is clearly woman-centered it clearly was behind the scenes and I hope we get time to talk about this more once the conversation shifts fully away from dunking on trolls. So many decisions speak to this, like the lack of an unnecessary romance, Carol getting her powers through a woman rather than a man, Carol's awakening coming from the emotions she was always told to repress, the way she handles You Rogg....it was all uniquely female. Very refreshing to see that in a CBM

@OmegaDaGrodd - I was just thinking yesterday about the similarities between Captain Marvel and Wonder Woman (both the films and the characters), because hey, I don't think it's unfair to compare the two, and aesthetics and individual story elements aside, I came to see that both end their journeys when they realize their true potential, a potential that was held back from them for reasons external to them, reasons rooted in either lies or selfishness (or both).

and I don't think that's a coincidence. the fact that different writers arrived at similar points just speaks of an understanding of the female experience in our society and how they're always told to hold back a lot of things for the sake of everyone except theirs.

I guess Marvel just doesn't want to introduce the fact that in the comics her main inspiration for justice and crime fighting was Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell). Guess they didn't want there 1st female superhero to look up to a man for inspiration. Which is kinda stupid imo. It's like saying Supergirl never looked up to Superman for moral justice and inspiration.

From how I saw it, Maria and Carol probably had more than just an only friends relationship

@MalseMarcel - because two women can't be close without them being lesbians?

@tvor03 - Not when most men/boy's only exposure to female relationships is from PornHub. Sadly.

@MalseMarcel - Are you in the same camp that says the same thing about Bucky & Steve?

People can be just friends...

@FearTheLiving - No I hate the Bucky and Steve thing, but I think there is room here for Captain Marvel
