Feige's thoughts on Secret Invasion and the sequel:

The Skrulls were awesome in the film, especially Talos who has quickly become a fan favorite MCU character. Yes, it was perhaps a bit unexpected for the Skrulls to be portrayed this way, but its clear that Feige was thinking much further ahead and properly introducing the alien race first and worrying about Secret Invasion later on. Its clear that Talos and the other refugees are just trying to survive and have been caught up in the midst of an intergalactic war that they want no part of. Does this mean that the rest of the Skrulls are not evil?? Hell no, its as Feige says, there are good and bad members of a race (especially during war), and showing both sides is brilliant because it allows you to really flesh out the Skrulls and make them three-dimensional.

With regards to the timeline/setting for the sequel, love that Feige is planning to explore the 24 year period in which Carol is in deep space. Have the film center around the Kree-Skrull war, show us more of both cultures and then 'Winter Soldier' the movie and flip audiences perception of the Skrulls and change the fabric of the MCU going forward, i.e. heading towards Secret Invasion. Could be perfect!!

@HeavyMetal4Life - I was kinda taken back by the skrull twist but having time to think about it.........I think that an invasion would be better if your enemy was not watching out for you.

@HeavyMetal4Life - I was thinking the whole Secret Invasion on Earth concept is a little too predictable and retreads Civil War territory too much. So maybe they find out someone really close to the Avengers was a Skrull and likely compromised the security of the planet over the course of decades. Then they launch a spy team to visit the Skrull home world and execute a "secret invasion" to investigate and sabotage any plans to attack Earth. The reason I suggest this is because the idea of earth heroes infiltrating a planet of shapeshifters on a reconnaissance mission is more unexpected and intriguing than waging yet another war on Earth when you have no idea what you're looking for before you can effectively fight it.

@HeavyMetal4Life - I also just want to drop a quick note here...it would be amazing if Captain Marvel ran into the Phoenix Force during her space adventures. Lots of fun character developing shenanigans around that idea, especially since we have never seen a truly faithful depiction of one of the most powerful and notorious cosmic entities in Marvel comics and it would really provide a moral experience for Carol in the sense of Dr Strange vs Dormammu. Can't punch your way out of this one, Danvers.

@Argetlam22 - It will be interesting how they will adress how Jean could manifest the flame bird in Apocalypse ten years prior to meeting the Phoenix Force in Dark Phoenix lol

@ElvenKingSlayer - Especially after Marvel Studios recasts the entire X-Men and leaves the Foxmen in a shallow grave. But you do realize that the Phoenix Force is an entirely separate being on scale with Eternity and Infinity right? No Jean Grey needed.

@ElvenKingSlayer - dont count on that, they are the Foxmen, nothing is canon there

@Argetlam22 - Yes, and in the new trailer it looks like Jean meets the Phoenix Force out in space. That's why I ask how she could demonstrate Phoenix powers ten years prior to meeting the Phoenix Force. I don't think they will lmao

@HeavyMetal4Life - The stage is set for Kl'rt and an army of lesser super skrulls to take over and redirect the race towards subtle conquest. Talos's relative success on earth gives them the notion it would be easy pickings and a lucrative score.

@Prime8 - Hell ya, I don't know I've only legitimately cried at the ending of Toy Story 3 other than that I've never really cried at a movie! It's probably just and English thing we don't really cry that often Lol but I'll admit... this was close, very touching!

@Jayman627 - I rarely get emotional in movies but that got me. I didn't expect that at all, & I felt the impact of it. What a beautiful way to pay tribute to the legend.

@ThouBear8 - Awesome buddy, it really was a beautiful tribute! Forgive me if I'm wrong but your accounts image, is that you and Stan Lee? Did you get to meet him? :)
ThouBear8
ThouBear8 - 3/10/2019, 1:44 PM
@Jayman627 - Aw man, no, I wish I did. It's actually a picture of Jim Lee opening his shirt to reveal a superman logo & Stan Lee hilariously reacting to it. It's one of my favorite pictures.

I actually tried to meet him a few years ago cus he was signing this book on my 25th birthday, pretty close to where I live. But unfortunately they had to keep his time short cus he would get exhausted after a bit. A buddy of mine did get to meet him tho & tell him how much his work meant to him, which I thought was cool.

@ThouBear8 - Oh ok hehe that's too bad! I would've loved to meet him too, must've been a really touching moment for Stan when your friend told him that! Very sweet story :)
