CAPTAIN MARVEL: Kevin Feige Teases A Different Take On Mar-Vell And Why He's Not The Focus Of The Movie
We know that Jude Law is playing Mar-Vell in the upcoming Captain Marvel but Kevin Feige has now told fans they should expect a slightly different take on the character and explains why he's not the lead.
Jude Law being cast to play Mar-Vell in Captain Marvel is awesome news but those of you hoping to suit up and join Carol Danvers in the fight against the Kree and Skrulls may be disappointed. That's because Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has seemingly confirmed in a new interview that the movie will be deviating from the source material when it comes to how the character is portrayed.
Mar-Vell has a very complicated and convoluted origin story in the comic books and like many fans, Feige wasn't that knowledgeable about him before the hero ended up becoming part of the movie.
"I knew some about him," he admitted, "but it was definitely Carol Danvers who was most interesting to us and why we choose her. But as that character connects to the origin of Carol Danvers’ Captain Marvel? We’re pulling from some of that for inspiration." It sounds like changes will indeed be made then and that's far from the end of the world when you stop and think about it.
After all, while Mar-Vell is a very cool character, it would be much better for the focus to remain on Carol even if that means he doesn't suit up as well (something tells me he will, though). What do you think about these Captain Marvel remarks? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
