Originally introduced as the scantily clad Ms. Marvel in the 1977 comic of the same name, Carol Danvers soared from there, becoming an Avenger, and eventually the new holder of the "Captain Marvel" moniker. Her past and personality has been fleshed out a great deal in recent years, while Marvel Comics quickly established her as one of their universe's most powerful superheroes.

On the big screen, Carol made her debut in 2019's Captain Marvel, a $1 billion blockbuster. From there, she would have small, but memorable, roles in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, and is now getting a sequel of her own. However, the character's influence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is spreading thanks to upcoming Disney+ TV shows like Ms. Marvel and Secret Invasion!

Debuting in All Star Comics#8 in October 1941, Diana Prince has shared a strong feminist message from the very start, and her influence has only expanded over the years. Becoming a member of the Justice League of America, Wonder Woman has been firmly established as one the DC Universe's greatest heroes, and her adventures have taken a number of exciting forms over the years.

Diana is no stranger to movies either, of course, while she's had a pretty prolific television career as well! After that classic TV series starring Lynda Carter, Wonder Woman was released in 2017 to widespread acclaim following a cameo appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Justice League followed, while Wonder Woman 1984 arrives in theaters and HBO Max this Christmas.

There's no denying that Captain Marvel and Wonder Woman are two of the world's all-time greatest superheroes, but we now want you to decide which of these archers is better! You can do that by casting your vote in the poll below, while we'd love to also hear your thoughts on them below.

Be sure to check back here next week for the results and another instalment of CBM's Sunday Showdown. If you have any characters you think should be pitted against each other here, let us know!

I guess it all depends on which time period and retcon of each of their power set. Current day, CM smokes her.

For the first time I have a clear winner, and that is Wonder Woman. For me it's probably because I find Wonder Woman more unique. Captain Marvel feels more replaceable.

As the other article is for recapping, this one is for picking stuff. This week I'm gonna finish Agents of SHIELD, Aunty Donna's, Alien Worlds and ofcourse The Mandalorian, and I'm thinking about watching The Lighthouse, Mank and/or Hillbilly Elegy.

Wonder Woman is the most iconic female hero of all time,no other female character will ever beat her.

Captain Marvel could go toe to toe with her, however she is not even the most iconic female in Marvel.

Personally that crown belongs to the Invisible Woman.

Wonder Woman has the better comics and movie over Captain Marvel as well.

Wonder woman would usually win. Captain marvel has the more entertaining, better written film and is the more interesting character but wonder woman has (other than a few mini series) mostly been stronger and faster than carol. That being said wonder woman would eat her teeth against binary carol.

@dracula - I have never met someone in the real world that liked the wonder woman film. It was pretty bu5 was written terribly. The folks I watched it with laughed out loud with me during the 3rd act, especially that "I stand for love" part.

@dragon316 - I just couldn't stand the lead or most of the supporting cast of wonder woman. Plot was paper thin(even for a children's fantasy) the entire third act was so bad it was funny and honestly even thor dark world was better

Their powers and strength level isn't that similar. Carol is more recent of a character in both the comics and any other media. What's the point in this?
