More CAPTAIN MARVEL Concept Art Pits Brie Larson's Carol Danvers Against The Skrulls

Marvel Studios surprised us all last night by revealing that Captain Marvel will have a 1990s setting and now more concept art has been revealed which pits Carol Danvers against the Skrulls in outer space.

While most of us suspected that Captain Marvel would take place primarily in outer space, it's fair to say that none of us expected the movie to have a 1990s setting. That changes things in a big way as it will now serve as a prequel of sorts to Iron Man and possibly even movies like Guardians of the Galaxy (what are the odds a young Star-Lord makes an appearance? I would say it has to be fairly high).

It also leaves us with the question of whether or not we'll see Captain Marvel show up in the present day and if so, how is it that she hasn't aged? We obviously have some time to wait before finding out!

In the meantime, we have yet another piece of concept art from the movie featuring Brie Larson's Carol Danvers powering up to take on a pretty fierce battalion of Skrull goons. Their inclusion in Captain Marvel is another big surprise and it will be fun to see whether they have their shape shifting powers and how that changes the Marvel Cinematic Universe moving forward. Could Nick Fury be one?

@jj2112 - until I see it officially, I doubt that's the poster. I recognize half that art from previous films and it's somehow a lot fuzzier than the other two.

I have a feeling I'm going to be saying "I really don't like the skrulls"

for a loong, looong, time. immortus, world war hulk, dark reign, [frick]ing spider-island, ANYTHING but secret invasion for phase 4. It's annoying to watch a movie and not know if you should be rooting for a character or not because they might be an impostor. when it turns out someone you liked was really a skrull, it's a bummer. I don't think it's clever, it's a cheap plot device, and if they make a whole phase out of it they can get [frick]ed.
