DC Comics and artist Jorge Jiménez have shared a first look at the overhauled version of Scarecrow we'll see make his debut in Batman this March, It's still Dr. Jonathan Crane beneath the mask (as far as we know), but he's now looking a lot less cartoonish, and more like what we've seen in the Arkham games.

The villain has been squaring off with Batman since the 1940s, and has made a handful of live-action appearances. As writer James Tynion IV revealed last year, he has big plans for this rogue in the comics moving forward.

"I hope I can tell one of the best Scarecrow stories ever," he said. "It's more than just a Scarecrow story. He's not the only key piece to it. We also have some of the threads that are set up in the Future State storylines, particularly with the Magistrate and Peacekeepers. You'll see the origins of those threads start in the Batman story in March. So, all of that's going to come together. It's going to be a big, crazy story, and I could not be more excited about it."

This definitely sounds like a storyline which should lead to fans taking Scarecrow seriously again, and it looks like the villain is going to pose a real threat to the Dark Knight. More details are bound to be revealed in the coming weeks, but Jiminez's design is undeniably eye-catching.
