After DC Comics left a tweet earlier this morning that fans have described as distasteful, DC Comics issued an apology after the outcry of their fans.
In trying to promote the anticipated Doomsday Clock comic event, the company referred to the dangerous situations, like the threat of nuclear war, as a light-hearted joke. The tweet read:
"Take your mind off the real #DoomsdayClock with Doomsday Clock #3, out now."
The tweet was also followed by a link to the website to which you'd be able to purchase the newly released issue. Fans did not take the joke well. Within five hours of releasing the tweet, the company issued an official apology on the same Twitter account, hoping to calm the situation before it gets any worse.
Doomsday Clock all about how individual characters handle the world coming to an end, which is staring them in the face. It's not a light-hearted story with many dark elements featured, much like its predecessor, The Watchmen.
