Here is a story that is very inspiring. Anthony Smith, who is four years old, is a big comic book fan. He can't hear on his right ear, and he also suffers from hearing loss in the other ear. Smith wears a hearing aid, but one day he woke up and decided not to put it on. My Fox Boston has more info:

"Anthony told his mother that superheroes don't wear hearing aids. His mother decided to look to Marvel Comics for some assistance. She e-mailed the comic empire known for its popular superheroes like Spider-man and the Avengers, looking for examples of superheroes who suffer from hearing loss."

"Marvel responded with the image of a superhero known as Hawkeye, a superhero who lost 80-percent of his hearing and wears hearing aids.

Marvel didn't stop there. They later sent Anthony a drawing of a new superhero, "Blue Ear." The character is named after Anthony's hearing aid, which he and his mother have always called blue ear."

This is great, and a cool thing of Marvel to do for the kid, but I couldn't help but notice they didn't even have a GOOD artist take a few minutes, and make a picture that doesn't look like it came out of a Dollar Store coloring book lol

Pretty cool of Marvel but but calling a hero who is deaf "The Blue Ear" seems to be as sensitive as calling Daredevil "The Cornea-less Crusader"

@Tomontherun99 Hhaha, It is just as catchy a name though.

Tomontherun99@ They called him the Blue Ear because that's what the kid calls his hearing aid that he doesn't wanna wear. It's a subtle way of getting the kid to wear it because he can BE the Blue Ear! It's not insensitivity, it's support:)

Well, there's a reason for the "Blue Ear" name if you read the article. I didn't know Hawkeye was deaf. I guess I learn something new every day, huh?

Make mine always MARVEL. pretty cool thing they did for the kid.

REDSTORM

Yeah, he's partially deaf. I forgot what villain The Avengers were fighting against, but Hawkeye placed a sonic arrow in his mouth and activated it so that he wouldn't be mind controlled.

Nice! I remember when marvel used to inspire children to be better with innovative guess heroes that helped identify children with certain disability, like Daredevil and even a geek like Spiderman or Captain America, Hulk and even the first Thor that was crippled.

Now we see Blacksicans, Homo/Lesbo heroes or heroines that cater to unhappy people that already have inspirations like Ricky Martin or even those unknown lesbian actresses.
Funny thought, Gay actors like Neil Patrick Harris, Hugh Jackman or Ricky Martin seem to be more memorable than lesbian actresses.

I would love.to.read this. I myself is hearing impared, eearing hearing aids andlow hearing on mh right. I used to be that person who would not wherr them because i never needed them. I also helped people try to realize that its needed. And i felt oke creating a super would be a great way to get all of hearing losses to realize that there are special than any other loss of five sences. Hearing aids are lost ears. Glasses improves but not needed
