Two superhero epics. Same premise. Who wins? Well, that's the question with the big showdowns of 2016; Batman V Superman and Captain America: Civil War. If we rank these two by reception, then Civil War is a clear winner, but let's go deeper. From fights to story to characters, who wins?

Fighting

Let's start with Batman V Superman; the fights in this are amazing, especially the Batman ones. Quick, brutal and glorious to watch. But the main fighting is cool aswell, with Batman finding quick methods to weaken Superman, from sonic waves to Kryptonite bombs and bullets. Although we wanted a glorious and amazing fight between the two, all we got is a 10 minute fight with Batman mostly breathing hard, and yeah, Batman knocks out Supes with a sink..yeah. But other than that, the fighting is amazing. Well choreographed and fun to watch, BVS nails it's fight scenes.

While Civil War has a scene which is among the best action scenes all year. The airport fight scene. It had all the characters use their moves, and quick and fun action with some jokes thrown in there. But one thing that made this scene less enjoyable was the awful CGI. Come on, Marvel, what was that crap? With Black Panther looking like a Barbie Doll at a few shots, the CGI here is mesmerizingly awful. But the fighting was cool and surely kept me on the edge of my seat.

The winner? While Civil War had good fight scenes, they were not even near as well choreographed and memorable as BVS.

Winner: Batman V Superman

The Story

BVS was panned for the weak story it presented with plot holes and dumb moments and that was absolutely true, Civil War had a good, coherent story, albeit a little complex, but if you payed attention well, then it is a really good story. With driving points, and an absolutely world changing ending, Civil War has the upper hand.

Dawn Of Justice recently had an Ultimate Edition which cleared up story issues and made the plot 10x times better. But Civil War didn't need 3 hours to tell a good coherent story with all the characters fleshed out, so...

Winner: Civil War

Characters

While BVS was panned, one thing everyone seemed to agree on is that Ben Affleck is the best Batman of all time and he is, but the killing factor of his Batman can't be forgotten, but since that is part of an arc in the film about Batman becoming a hero again after years of pain is a good plot. The other characters were...ugh, how do i say this. Well, they weren't as good as Batfleck. Superman was far from the Superman we know, Lex was an annoying villain with poor motivations but some damn good skills at framing and villainy, WW felt like just a forced cameo, Lois was given time but she didn't have an interesting plot with her, and her subplot is pretty boring, but i like the character and the actress, so that isn't much of a problem.

Civil War had a fair share of great characters; Cap, Iron Man, Black Panther, Spider-Man, Ant-Man, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Vision and...wait, i am saying the full list of characters, aren't i? Well, that proves my point. All of these characters are great and likable and are handled very well in this big ensemble. It was impossible, but the Russos did but one gripe with the Black Panther character is that he was just way too on the nose with hunting Bucky and that some characters are wasted (Martin Freeman's character) but other than that, CW is the winner..

Winner: Civil War.

Final Winner: *drums* Captain America: Civil War

While with it's own faults, CW is a vastly superior film, but with the UC, BVS has vastly improved, but as i stated, CW did what BVS should have done in just two hours, simple as that. But if you like BVS, don't be offended, i loved it too, but Marvel's superhero showdown was and is the movie that topped and did everything that BVS failed to do. But both films have good and bad parts, so this is really a tie, but this is my opinion, and with no intentions to make you twist your panties.
