There have been rumblings for a while about the Fantastic Four's long overdue return to the Marvel Universe but it's finally 100% official that they're coming back. Hit the jump for what we know so far.

Well, it's about damn time. The Fantastic Four has been absent from the Marvel Universe ever since the events of Secret Wars and while The Thing and the Human Torch have popped up elsewhere (as members of the Inhumans and Guardians of the Galaxy...really?), there's been no side of Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman and seemingly no plans for this iconic group of superheroes to reform.

That's changed today as you can see from the announcement below. Written by Dan Slott (Amazing Spider-Man) with art by Sara Pichelli (Ultimate Spider-Man),
Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Thing, and the Human Torch reunite this summer for what promises to be a must-buy series for fans.

Plot details haven't been revealed but Marvel Two In One is set to continue, albeit with a couple of different leads! With Disney in the process of acquiring Fox (the studio which owns the rights to the big screen version of the team), their return now probably shouldn't come as too much of a surprise.

What do you guys think about the planned return of the Fantastic Four? Share your thoughts below.

Excited for this but worried about Slott. I dropped ASM pretty early but loved his Silver Surfer run.

Hm. Not sold on Slott.

Hickman's F4 run is so good (despite him also doing some weird shit with Thanos with Infinity).

@PsychoticSpaceRaccoon -

Hickman's run was one of the BEST arcs in Fantastic Four in a long time.

I’m glad they are coming back, but it further highlights how Marvel Comics were being jerks about the iconic team since Fox had the rights.

@RolandD - Why bother promoting something that will benefit another company? Same reason why they wouldnt make toys for the other Fox/Sony properties without some sort of income from them

@MNLawyer - I think it's that exact mentality that's at question as it doesn't take into account fans of the comics as well and views comics as only marketing material for movies instead of stories that people have been interested in long before a movie was ever made about them.
