Slott already said he wasn't leaving Spider-Man so unless he's picking up another title, it's Spidey.

I'm so glad Marvel kept Dan Slott as the writer for ASM comics! I would say the change will probably be a new custom change for Spidey.

Really didn't want Slott staying on. Damn. Stegman is awesome though, at least the book will look amazing even if the writing isn't.

Personally, I don't care if Slott leaves or not. I don't read Spidey anymore so good for him if he stays on.

Dan Slott is among the all time top Spider-Man writers. He has the potential to become THE BEST of all of them when it's all said and done. As long as my money's worth, Dan Slott will keep writing Amazing Spider-Man forever.

@CaptainCool I believe I heard that on here awhile back. Not sure.

I like that different costumes he had over the past 3 years but it's just something about the original...I love it. :)

Read a very cool idea that this would be a direct tie-in to Amazing with Doc Ock's mechanical arms being fused to Peter Parker permanently. Urgo ruining Peter Parker's secret identity and making a SUPERIOR spider-man through giving him 8 limbs.

I wish Bendis would get a crack at the 616 Spider-Man in an ongoing solo series. He nailed the character perfectly in Spider-Men and it just seems like he'd know exactly how to handle him.

With that being said however, it might be hard for him to adapt considering the obvious constraints the 616 continuity has when compared to the Ultimate Universe.

Over there you can kill off Peter Parker and replace him -- there's no way the editors and marketing people would ever allow that in the mainstream continuity. It'd be too much of a risk in their eyes and all they care about is making money... lots of it.

i hate dan slotts spider-man run just plain awful writes spider-man like an incompetent hypo reactive idiot and hasnt wrote a story worth reading the alpha story was just terrible. i would love to see ed brubaker jonathan hickman or even jason aaron have a crack at spidey cos spider-man hasnt been good since JMS

Not fair. Hopefully he can at least reverse the whole one more day thing though. IDK, to me a lot of his writing is big major half well done story, then tons of fill in stories.

CALLED IT.

Awesome, ASM is my favorite monthly book right now, (other than Invincible) and Slott is just AWESOME at what he does.

@IM53, I read it and it was enjoyable. It's wordy, but...it's Bendis, what're gonna do.

For the msot part, I've really enjoyed Slott's run on the book, but I can't stand Humberto Ramos' art... I think its time that someone else get a chance to write for the character.

Maybe some new thought out villains? Spider-Man needs something like Batman's recent Court of Owls story.

Maybe the redesign will look like the new movie costume? Seems like Marvel have no problem with emulating their movies in the comics.

The best thing about ASM lately has been the artwork by Giuseppe Camuncoli, Stefano Caselli, and Ryan Stegman. The horrible out of perspective anatomy scribbles by Humberto Ramos are totally cringeworthy.

I don't know why Marvel keep giving him work. I'm all for artistic style but messy pseudo manga style for Spiderman just doesn't look right.

"Superior Spiderman" is also such a dumb sounding title. Marvel are going all out to lose even more long time readers by targeting a younger demographic and Dan Slott isn't that great a writer anymore. His writing has become hyped up showmanship with no substance.

Good story telling begins with individual characterization, not by changing costumes, the title of the book, and making it more brutal, dark or whatever. It's pure and simple laziness and total disrespect for the character. What are they trying to prove? You cannot better what Stan Lee & Steve Ditko perfected.

They need to engage readers with substantial mature storytelling. Dan Slott's creativity has stagnated and rather than pass the mantle on, they're succumbing to the incontinent urge to mess everything up for the sake of what - a short term increase in sales? Wow! that's Marvel NOW the house of NO IDEA.

My ASM collection stops at #700.
