Stan Lee Tribute Event EXCELSIOR! Announced For January 30; Kevin Smith Will Host
A tribute event for the late Stan Lee will take place on Wednesday, January 30, at Hollywood’s TCL Chinese Theatre, with Kevin Smith on board as host. Guests include Mark Hamill, Vincent D’Onofrio & more.
We lost a true legend back in November when Stan "The Man" Lee passed away, and the life of the Marvel Comics icon will now be celebrated with a tribute event that's set to take place later this month.
Excelsior! A Celebration of the Amazing, Fantastic, Incredible & Uncanny Life of Stan Lee will kick-off on Wednesday, January 30, at Hollywood’s TCL Chinese Theatre. There will be both public and invite-only private events, with the likes of Mark Hamill, Rob Liefeld and Vincent D’Onofrio appearing as guests at the latter.
Host Kevin Smith has the following to say about the late "Generalissimo."
“Thank you, Stan, for making me not only the boy I was but also the man I am today. You had great power and you always used it responsibly, fostering billions of dreamers who all know your name – a name written in the stars for all time. You were not just the literary titan of comic books, you were our modern-day Mark Twain.”
Tickets for the public tribute will go on sale today at 5 pm PT at legionm.com/stantribute and are priced between $150 and $200. Net proceeds will go to the non-profit charitable organization The Hero Initiative, which supports comic book creators, artists and writers in need.
