The Tenth Doctor has returned for a time-traveling team up in Doctor Who: The Thirteenth Doctor Year 2 #4. Titan Comics has provided us with a review copy of the new issue so we can share our thoughts!

Fans of BBC's Doctor Who are likely already familiar with the comic series from Titan which recently paired up two of the doctors in one story, The Thirteenth and Tenth Doctors. This means the return of David Tennant's Ten, one of the most popular and beloved Time Lords of them all, which is a big deal for those who have missed the character in recent years.

Titan has now released Doctor Who: The Thirteenth Doctor Year 2 #4 which wraps up the current arc of Year 2 while also setting up the next story to come with Year 3.

Having previously checked out other Doctor Who: The Thirteenth Doctor issues, I was already familiar with the team up and wasn't surprised by the inclusion of David Tennant's character. Though most readers may find this surprising, it is certainly a marketing hook to catch more eyes as much as it is a proper storyline. Of course, that isn't to say the story is bad at all; on the contrary it's an excellent read and a fun adventure, but it is still fairly obvious that Thirteen probably could have solved things on her own.

One of the most exciting parts of the concept is that fans get to experience two versions of The Doctor side by side. While attempting to avoid a paradox, the two work together while recognizing their differences as well as their inevitable likenesses. The rest of the cast become a simple backdrop as the two Doctors seem to forget they're there for a majority of the story -- so much so that the entire crew wants to visit home after the journey.

The story is filled with thrilling and interesting enemies which include the likes of Weeping Angels and a hive-mind of living mannequins hell-bent on a hostile take-over. Together, Ten and Thirteen work together to get past the obstacles that stand before them, and along the way Ten realizes how much of a better person he is destined to become in the future.

Without dropping any spoilers, the ending contained a cliffhanger that sets up the next year's story perfectly. Due to the nature of these events, however, we'll let you read them for yourself. Once completing the issue, it becomes obvious that Ten and Thirteen aren't quite finished working together yet, as they'll have to team up once again to stop a new threat.

Containing all of the aspects that have made Doctor Who interesting for decades, Doctor Who: The Thirteenth Doctor closes out Year 2 strong with the final issue exploring the peak of Ten and Thirteen's adventure together. The type of book that has you interested even after finishing the final page, this issue not only closes out a strong story arc, but also gives readers something to look forward to in the future.

It all ends in a... blink!? With the Tenth and Thirteenth Doctors finally together, they might actually stand a chance of surviving the swinging sixties. But with Weeping Angels surrounding the Tardis, and Autons not far behind, temporal paradoxes might be the least of their worries!

Doctor Who: The Thirteenth Doctor Year 2 #4 is currently on sale from Titan Comics here on digital and on paperback for $8.00.
