It's been revealed that Michael B. Jordan has signed on to produce a live-action Static Shock film at Warner Bros. through his own production company, Outlier Society. Though THR's report only lists Jordan as a producer, social media is already rife with takes on whether the 33-year-old Black Panther star could potentially play teenager, Virgil Hawkins.

In a statement to THR, Jordan shared his enthusiasm for the project. "I’m proud to be a part of building a new universe centered around black superheroes; our community deserves that.  Outlier Society is committed to bringing to life diverse comic book content across all platforms and we are excited to partner with Reggie and Warner Bros on this initial step."

Though Hudlin is a producer, screenwriter and director with many notable projects under his belt, THR says Jordan and Outlier will be the driving creative force on the Static Shock film.

DC Comics is set to fully relaunch Milestone Comics in early-2021 following September's Milestone Returns #0 one-shot, which Hudlin wrote.

While Jordan has not signed on to appear in the film just yet, it should be noted that all of Outlier Society's previous project have featured the actor in a supporting role, including the 2018 science fiction action film, Kin and 2019's Raising Dion
