DEADPOOL 2 SPOILERS - 40+ Easter Eggs, References, In Jokes, And Cameos You Need To See - Part 2

We've already covered dozens of Easter Eggs in Deadpool 2 and we're now taking a look at even more which range from nods to the wider X-Men Universe, in jokes about the crew, and so much more besides...

Superhero movies are always full of Easter Eggs for comic books fans (some haven't even been spotted yet if Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn is to be believed) but Deadpool 2 features literally hundreds of them. There is an insane number of references, cameos, and nods to the comic books in the R-Rated sequel and we've combed through them all to bring you the biggest and best ones.

There are, in fact, so many that we've had to split them into two separate articles and this is, of course, the second. You can check out the first by clicking here. If you thought we'd already covered the ones worth knowing about, guess again, because there are loads here and they're both pretty mind-blowing and surprisingly easy to miss. Green Lantern

During that mid-credits sequence featuring the Merc with the Mouth travelling through time, he pays a visit to Ryan Reynolds who seems confident he's going to hit the big time by starring in Green Lantern. Well, Deadpool wastes no time in gunning the actor down and telling Canada, "You're Welcome."

Cerebro

While the Merc with the Mouth is making himself comfortable in the X-Mansion, we see him sitting around wearing Cerebro (and seemingly able to read at least some of Colossus' thoughts). He says the helmet "smells like Patrick Stewart," a reference to the actor who has frequently played Professor X.

Star Wars (Again)

Deadpool 2 is crammed full of great visual gags and while I personally wasn't overly keen on a lot of the jokes in this sequel, I can't help but give those some credit. One of my personal favourites comes when the Merc with the Mouth is placed on Domino's back Yoda style like in The Empire Strikes Back.

The Ice Box

There are a lot of difference mutant prisons Wade Wilson and Russell could have been sent to but the sequel chooses the relatively obscure Ice Box. In the comic books, that's Canada's version of The Raft and the big screen version is set in similarly snowy climes (Ryan Reynolds is Canadian remember).

The X-Men

When Wade Wilson arrives in the X-Mansion, it looks like we're once again only going to see Colossus and some more obscure members of the X-Men. However, as Deadpool rants about the studio not paying for them to appear, we see Beast quietly close the door behind him to hide the team from him.

Stan Lee's Cameo

Stan "The Man" Lee's health has sadly been failing in recent years, so the fact he doesn't make a physical appearance in Deadpool 2 shouldn't surprise you. However, his presence is still felt as we see his face pop up when Cable is scrolling through the various prisoners who are kept within the Ice Box.

Irene Merryweather

The news reporter who comments on Russell's attack is named Irene Merryweather, a character who will probably be familiar to fans of Cable and Deadpool's comic book adventures. Her investigations into the Hellfire Club resulted in that villainous group targeting her before the two mutants stepped in.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

X-Men Origins: Wolverine spectacularly botched Deadpool but it did at least manage to get Wade Wilson right. One of the coolest scenes came when he used his swords to slice some bullets in half but things don't go quite so well here as he manages to stop of them and takes the rest in his torso!

The Goonies

There are a couple of references to the fact Josh Brolin starred in The Goonies and the first comes when he refers to Cable as "one-eyed Willie." However, even cleverer is Wade Wilson being decked out in the same t-shirt Chunk wore while he's hanging out with Blind Al and attempting to regrow his legs.

Taylor Swift

When Deadpool wakes up in the X-Mansion, Colossus reveals that he's dressed him and it appears someone there is a big fan of Taylor Swift because the t-shirt the Merc with the Mouth is wearing features a picture of the singer's cats and the slogan, "Olivia and Meredith, Friends Furrrever." Aww...

Kid Apocalypse

Many fans speculated that Julian Dennison would be playing Kid Apocalypse in Deadpool 2 and while that wasn't ultimately the case, the character's story arc was definitely lifted from the X-Force comic books as it was there Wade Wilson similarly found himself bonding with a child who may break bad.

Laird

Before X-Force jumps out of the chopper, Deadpool shouts "Laird, hit it!" Is that the name of the pilot? Not exactly. Instead, it's been revealed that the line is an inside joke referencing a member of the sequel's costume department who was tasked with helping Ryan Reynolds get in and out of his Deadpool costume.

Deadpool's X-Force Suit

During that final battle, Deadpool ends up being covered in debris and his suit appears to be almost entirely grey as a result. That has to be a nod to the costume the Merc with the Mouth wore during his stint as a member of X-Force and it could inspire a change in appearance further down the line.

Four Or Five Moments

At the end of Deadpool, Colossus lectures the Merc with the Mouth about every hero having four or five moments to prove themselves. It's advice he quickly ignores when he guns down Francis but Wade Wilson surprisingly brings it back up here as he attempts to stop Russell going down a dark path.

George Michael And David Bowie

Deadpool made great use of George Michael's "Careless Whisper" and finds a nice way of paying tribute to the late singer when Wade Wilson mentions his death and says he's "Never Gonna Dance Again." He then makes reference to David Bowie's demise, revealing he doesn't realise he's dead.

Logan

The movie kicks off with the Merc with the Mouth winding up a music box which is adorned with Hugh Jackman's Wolverine stabbed through the chest, just like at the end of last year's critically acclaimed Logan. Only Deadpool could remind us of the character's tragic death in such a tasteless manner!

Avengers: Age Of Ultron

There are numerous references to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Deadpool 2 but one of the best comes when the Merc with the Mouth attempts to soothe The Juggernaut by saying to him exactly what Black Widow did to The Hulk in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Needless to say, it doesn't end well.

Basic Instinct

As Deadpool attempts to regrow his legs (the sight of his baby legs is perhaps the sequel's best visual gag), he sits around Blind Al's house with no pants on much to, well, everyone's disgust. As Cable watches on, the Merc crosses and uncrosses his baby legs in a clever nod to Basic Instinct.

Ryan Reynolds Voices The Juggernaut

The Juggernaut may not have been the best CGI villain we've seen on screen but it was still awesome seeing him tear his way through the sequel and do battle with Colossus. However, did any of you realise that Ryan Reynolds provided both the voice and facial capture for this iconic X-Men bad guy?

Pigeon Wings

Deadpool frequently references a member of the X-Men known as "Pigeon Wings," and that's clearly a nod to Angel/Archangel. The character appeared in X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: Apocalypse and has frequently been associated with X-Force. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem as if Wade is a fan!

Hope Summers

When Cable travels back in time to save Deadpool by placing his lead coin in one of his pouches, he mentions that his daughter is called "Hope." While we never get any sort of references to the fact that Cable's parents are members of the X-Men, this is a nod to his comic book daughter Hope Summers.

Brad Pitt

At one time, Brad Pitt was rumoured to be up for the role of Cable in Deadpool 2 (we even got to see some concept art of him in the role). That obviously didn't pan out but the actor still makes a surprise appearance in the sequel when he's revealed to be The Vanisher...who dies when he hits a pylon!
