PUNISHER Actor Dolph Lundgren Thinks He Could "Kick Some Butt" As 'Cable' In DEADPOOL 2
Expendables actor and '80s action icon Dolph Lundgren has clearly heard that he's a fan-favorite choice to play mutant time-traveling cyborg, Cable, in Fox's Deadpool sequel, and he wants in...
In the hilarious Ferris Bueller-inspired end-credits scene of Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds' Wade Wilson specifically name-drops Dolph Lundgren as one of the actors he thinks would be a good fit to play Cable in the sequel.
Well, word obviously reached Lundgren, as he's done a bit of research (though it doesn't sound like he's actually watched the movie yet) and reckons he could put some of those well-honed action chops to use in the role.
Here's what he had to say to Nerdist when asked if ever saw himself returning to the superhero world after playing Frank Castle in the 1989 Punisher movie.
"That’s a good question. I haven’t watched a lot of these superhero movies; for some reason, I don’t know, I’m just busy making films. I did hear in… Deadpool, isn’t there a character named Cable that’s coming? Like, he’s a big guy? I guess I could kick some butt doing that, I suppose. We’ll see. When I saw the picture, he looks a little bit like Ivan Drago mixed with Gunner Jensen mixed with… I don’t know."
Lundgren is still in terrific shape, and there's definitely a resemblance to the character there - but do you guys think he's the right choice to play Cable? I'm still holding out for Keira Knightley myself.
Deadpool is out on Blu-ray and DVD now.
