Bob Iger Says Disney Will Continue To Release Movies Under The Fox Banner After Deal Closes

We recently learned that the deal to make Disney's acquisition of Fox's assets official is almost done, and Disney Chairman Bob Iger now says they're ready to "hit the ground running" once the buyout is complete.

During the shareholders meeting that was held today, Iger also revealed that The Mouse House will continue to release movies under the 20th Century Fox and Fox Searchlight banners.

“There will be businesses within the company that still have the Fox name on them, particularly on the movie side,” he explained. “We will continue to make the movies under the Fox brand and Fox Searchlight brand. FX will keep its name too.”

What does this mean for Fox's stable of Marvel characters? Well, Marvel Studios will (presumably) still be able to integrate the likes of The X-Men and Fantastic Four into The MCU, but this may allow Disney to continue the R-rated Deadpool franchise, for example, under Fox's name.

Expect an announcement signaling the finalization of the deal soon.
