Disney Breaks All-Time Record For Global Ticket Sales In A Year With Over $7.67B And It's Only July

With Avengers: Endgame, Captain Marvel, Aladdin and more, Disney has already broken the all-time record for global ticket sales for a single studio — smashing its own record previously set in 2016.

Disney continues to reign supreme at the box office, setting a new all-time record for global ticket sales for a single studio. The House of Mouse has already surpassed $7.67 billion worldwide this year (a figure that includes $5.09 billion overseas), breaking its own record set in 2016 with $7.61 billion.

Disney holds five of the six biggest films of the year globally, three of which have already grossed over $1 billion at the global box office this year: Avengers: Endgame ($2.79 billion), Captain Marvel ($1.1 billion), and most recently Aladdin ($1 billion). There's also The Lion King ($962 million) and Toy Story 4 ($917 million) - both of which are expected to cross the billion-dollar threshold soon as well.

The only other studio to have a top-five film globally is Sony with Spider-Man: Far From Home ($1 billion). And that probably has something to do with it being related to the Marvle Cinematic Universe.

What makes this milestone even more impressive is the fact that it's only July and Disney still has three potential major blockbusters on deck: Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (October 2019), Frozen 2 (Novembert 2019), and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (December 2019). There's a good chance that both Frozen 2 and The Rise of Skywalker will also gross over $1 billion globally, putting Disney in very good position to surpass $10 billion worldwide this year alone.
