Soul stars Jamie Foxx, Tina Fey, Angela Bassett, and Phylicia Rashad, and Disney has now released a new TV spot for Pixar's highly anticipated animated movie. It was originally set to receive a theatrical release, the studio has since confirmed that it's heading to Disney+ - for free - on December 25th.

As the first movie from the studio to feature a Black lead, there are high expectations surrounding this one, and reviews point to families having something special to tune into on Christmas Day (Wonder Woman 1984, however, will be serious competition seeing as it's debuting on HBO Max on the same day).

Soul follows a passionate music teacher named Joe Gardner (Foxx), whose soul gets separated from his body after an accident and instead of passing on, he resists moving on and ends up falling into The Great Before, a world where souls develop personalities, quirks, and traits before being sent off to Earth. He then partners up with 22 (Fey) to find a way back to his body before it dies while also doing his best to avoid being captured by a soul counter named Terry (Rachel House).

We'll be sharing our review of the movie with you soon, but that first wave of verdicts from critics should definitely leave you excited, and this sneak peek is full of beautiful new footage.

Pete Docter is one of the best directors over at Pixar. I'm hearing this one really pushes the boundaries both in terms of what animation can do and thematically. It's also apparently Tina Fey at her best. Would much rather wait to watch it in cinemas but oh well...

Any word when the soundtrack drops? I'd like to listen to it without all the tears from the actual movie.
