It appears that Marvel's Doctor Strange sequel may be much further along than we may have thought as Benedict Wong has seemingly revealed that the film could begin filming as soon as this December!

While Wong may have bowed out of Avengers: Infinity War before dinner was served, it appears that he will indeed return to lend a helping hand to Earth's Mightiest Heroes in the still Untitled Avengers Sequel.

Yesterday during his appearance at Fan Expo Vancouver, Benedict Wong confirmed that he's filmed scenes for the hotly-awaited sequel, which is due out in theaters next May. However, he didn't seem to mention whether his character survived the snap or if he'll be among the millions of souls that need to be resurrected.

While that's plenty exciting by itself, Wong also shared a slightly bigger bombshell as he revealed that he expects to begin filming the Doctor Strange sequel before the end of this current calendar year, with some attendees saying he confirmed a December production start date for the follow-up to the 2016 blockbuster.

The Doctor Strange sequel has been a hot-button topic for the past several months now, with the most recent report suggesting a Spring 2019 start. However, with this latest update, it appears that Marvel Studios has chosen to fast-track the sequel by a few months and also all but confirms that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has indeed been delayed indefinitely since it was the Marvel film previously rumored to begin filming at the top of 2019.

Following Spider-Man: Far From Home in July 2019, Marvel Studios doesn't have another film slated to open until May 2020, so there's little reason to worry about them potentially delivering anything that could feel even a little rushed, but if that date had been previously booked for Guardians 3, it does appear the studio may be doing a considerable amount of reshuffling behind closed doors. As for the rest of their release calendar, Marvel has booked dates in July and November 2020, but one of those two dates is believed to be for Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow standalone.

An unprecedented cinematic journey ten years in the making and spanning the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Infinity War” brings to the screen the ultimate, deadliest showdown of all time. The Avengers and their Super Hero allies must be willing to sacrifice all in an attempt to defeat the powerful Thanos before his blitz of devastation and ruin puts an end to the universe.

If Doctor Strange will be anything like in Thor Ragnarok and Infinity War, I am definitely looking forward to Doctor Strange 2

So pumped for more Dr Strange now. The Russo Bros did it again. Just like how Winter Soldier retroactively made Cap 1 better, infinity war made me like Dr Strange better... how do they do it?

@Subtlespammer24 - They did it by showing just how powerful Doctor Strange can be with the mystic arts. His abilities displayed in IW were awesome as [frick].

@Subtlespammer24 - The First Avenger is a pretty good damm film... but yeah, the Rusos know their craft.

If they're filming that scene we're definitely getting casting news soon.

My main thought is that as "weird" as DS2 needs to be, I want it to go hard on the fantasy angle with sci fi sensibilities, rather than vice versa. The first one was pretty crazy in scope, but now they need to just imbue things with more creativity now that people have bought into that corner of the MCU

Also, yes we definitely need Clea

Put Scarlet Witch in the second one.

I'm no Dr Strange fan, but even I know this would be nasty. Lol

I’m really excited for Dr Strange 2 but I’m also bummed out about Guardians 3.

I'll wait for GotG3 in exchange for Doc2. He went to the top of the bad ass list after IW. Hoping for a way cooler villain this time.

Why can't Disney just write a huge check in order to get the full rights back to the hulk so can finally get another solo hulk film.

I like that all the deaths in IW have become pro-wrestling kayfabe. Everyone knows death is temporary in movies like these. Doesn’t make seeing your heroes die — and the survivors grieving — any less impactful.
