Doctor Strange was a success for Marvel Studios and there's a huge amount of excitement surrounding the sequel, In the Multiverse of Madness. That's still a couple of years away, but for now we have an alternate ending for the Sorcerer Supreme's origin story.

There's nothing necessarily groundbreaking here as much of the scene revolves around a humorous exchange between Stephen Strange and Wong. However, Mordo gets a mention and it doesn't sound like either of them are overly concerned about the fact that he's disappeared. The final few seconds are the same as the theatrical cut, as Strange looks down at his hands and broken watch.

The key difference here is that there's no mention of the Infinity Stones, so perhaps the reason this sequence was scrapped is because Marvel Studios decided to add that detail in order to tie this movie into the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe and the events of Avengers: Infinity War.

Check out the clip below and be sure to let us know your thoughts on it in the usual place!

What, did they run out of Beyonce jokes?

@L0RDbuckethead

Doctor Strange tried too hard to be funny and the jokes didn’t land. I hope they’re serious about the sequel leaning into horror.

@regularmovieguy - Agreed. That's kind of what I was getting at with my comment.

@L0RDbuckethead - the movie grew on me. Its only real issue was the forced jokes. The MCU is humor works when its natural and almost rolls of the tongue in a way.

Ex:
-Widow nagging Cap about dating
-I never freeze, everything Shuri says
-he's a friend from work
-why is gamora
etcetera

Everything in Doc Strange's humor felt like they inserted all of it after the fact to hit a joke quote.

@BlackBeltJones - Totally agree. Don't get me wrong, Dr. Strange is one of the best MCU origin films (IMO). But I, like you, didn't really care for the shoe-horned jokes they put in that movie specifically.

Dr. Strange was a cool ass movie - best visual scenes in the MCU in my opinion

Saw this on gifs format around a week ago in Tumblr and I liked it. Can not wait for more of their banter in the upcoming Multiverse of Madness.

I really love the interactions between these two, Strange is like that over-confident uncle who makes too many dad jokes and Wong is like the nephew who just stares at him with a "the f*ck are you talking about?" look on his face.

Doctor strange is one of those movies where I watched it the first time and brushed it off as filler then on a random re-watch I enjoyed it so much that I wondered how did I underrate it in that manner.

It was actually pretty good just misses being a top tier mcu movie for me but it's one of the best origins out there.

Dr Strange is such an interesting movie because upon first thought I'm always getting the feeling it held back a ton but then when I think about all the things that actually happened in the movie I'm in awe of how they able to cram all of that into it and still have it turn out so well

Nice, though I can see why it was left out. I liked what we got in the movie better.

Who covered it before the Stones? I can’t make out what he said.

Cut down the pause for laughter and the scene works... it’s a nice call-back to the beginning of the film.
