In this new golden age of superhero movies, the contenders for the best of the genre are strong with everyone having their own personal picks. Be it the critically lauded The Dark Knight, the popcorn spectacular of The Avengers or a more classic entry like Burton's 1989 Batman or a Sam Raimi Spider-Man.
This has also drawn a competitive line for some amongst the cinematic ventures of various comic companies, and who has seen the better adaptations of their properties. MCU alum Scott Derrickson, who was at the helm of 2016's Doctor Strange bridged that divide recently when he took to Twitter to reveal his personal favorite comic book movie...
Zack Snyder has become something of a controversial figure in the realm of superhero films following the one-two punch of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League but his 2009 adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' Watchmen is still held as a high bar for at least faithfulness to source material, whether you feel that's to the film's detriment or otherwise.
Derrickson likening the film to Ridley Scott's 1982 science-fiction film Blade Runner places the film in good company though, as it is often regarded as one of the greatest films in its genre. Though the Sinister director might simply be referring to the varied different versions of both films that exist.
