It's hard to remember now, but production on 2016's Doctor Strange movie was delayed by five months to ensure that Benedict Cumberbatch could star in the Marvel Studios production. The actor's busy schedule was the cause, and even with Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, a stand-in was often used while he was forced to be elsewhere.
Ironically, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was also recently hit by a delay, but this time, it was a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic which is causing chaos across the globe.
While he's no longer set to be in the director's chair after "creative differences" led to him being replaced by Sam Raimi, Doctor Strange helmer Scott Derrickson recently took to Twitter to reveal how being forced to postpone production on the first film ultimately proved to be beneficial.
As you can see below, it allowed them to refine the movie's script and visuals, something which obviously helped Doctor Strange stand out from the crowd when it arrived in theaters back in 2016.
