Interesting...

Admittedly, I don't know much about the Eternals from a comic standpoint, but from what I've read, I'm pretty excited for this one.

@L0RDbuckethead - yeah I know little about them too but certainly sounds pretty interesting. Anything that further expands the MCU universe I'm down for.

Would also be neat to see Hercules. That could lead to Ares showing up, who we know already exists in the MCU.

I really wonder why Marvel is making this movie.

I'm in no way against it, but it seems like an odd following up to me. But I am most intrigued about it.

@DnA - they're probably making it because it helps expand the MCU cosmically.

My question would be how long has this film been in development? How long have they planned on releasing it in 2020? How much input did James Gunn have?

@DnA - They're experimental. After the success they've had, I would be too. Lol

@DnA - Feige said phase 4 Will be different and it doesn't get ANY MORE DIFFERENT than Eternals.

I think when you see the director they got for this too, you realize how unique this can be.

It feels like the sort of property that could take the mcu in a new direction too.

@Doomsday8888 - he could always spin out into a solo movie (and face off against Ares...)

@HeavyMetal4Life
Oh man....that would be DOPE!
Then imagine Hercules sharing a scene with Thor...or Hulk...or *gulp* Wolverine!

@Doomsday8888 - or... have Hercules teaming up with Beta Ray Bill ;-)

@Doomsday8888 - there's a good chance Beta and Hercules know each other in the MCU...

I remember!
I loved Ragnarok even more for that shit!
Hopefully it's not just an easter egg.

@Doomsday8888 - I feel like obvious stuff like this is more than just an Easter Egg, and stuff that we treated as JUST an easter egg in the past turned out to foreshadow something down the line. I also believe Feige or someone involved with Marvel Studios have expressed their desire for Beta Ray Bill to appear.

@HeavyMetal4Life - Yeah. A leak claims that Bill will appear in the Sif series for Disney+.

While I'm looking forward to the MCU exploring these characters, I'm hoping that they don't use the Eternals as a combination of the Greek pantheon and Eternals. Don't want anything preventing Herc and Ares from showing up one of these days.

@lawndart - There is nothing preventing Herc and Area appearing AND being Eternals :). The Greek aspect can be explained by humans thinking Eternals were Gods so they idolized them.
lawndart
lawndart - 2/21/2019, 11:22 AM
@Jeight8 - Yeah, but that convenient explanation is what I'd like to avoid. They already sort of did that with the Asgardians in the MCU.

In the books, the Greek gods and Eternals are two very different groups, distinctive with their own lore, drama, and identity. I always liked the mythic aspects, the pantheons from different cultures that would pop up in Thor or the Avengers.

I'm all for the Eternals, but I would hope to keep them Eternals and not Eternal-Olympian-whatever other property the MCU wants to press into it.
