Most of these are some random picks from the Marvel Universe and they are my favorite characters. My other favorites have already been cast so no need to fill them. I included mini biographies as well. Some of these characters I've already cast and recast so bear with me.
First up is Spider-Woman/Jessica Drew. Jessica is the daughter of Jonathan Drew, research partner to Dr. Herbert Edgar Wyndham. When young Jessica suffered uranium poisoning in 1931, Dr. Drew was forced to inject her with his untested spider serum and seal her in a genetic accelerator. In stasis for decades, her aging greatly slowed, she awoke with no memories of her own past. Briefly cared for by the Evolutionary's assistant, Bova, Jessica sought human company in a nearby village where she accidentally killed her first lover with her new bio-electric powers. Fleeing a vengeful mob, she was rescued by Count Otto Vermis, who molded her into the terrorist organization Hydra's newest assassin.
I had a few cast choices for this one in the past but thanks to some positive input (thanks DDD), I decided to go with Michelle Ryan. Not only is she hot as all heck, she has the British accent to go with it.
Next up is Archangel/Warren Worthington III. Born into an extremely wealthy family, young Warren attended a prestigious East Coast boarding school where he roomed with Cameron Hodge. Warren's life changed forever the day he began sprouting wings from his shoulder blades, and he hid them under his clothes. Later, when fire struck his dormitory, Warren discovered while escaping that his wings enabled him to fly. Donning a blond wig and long nightshirt to disguise himself as an anonymous "angel," Warren saved the other students. Warren soon became the costumed crime-fighting Avenging Angel and attracted the attention of Professor Xavier, who recruited him as a founding member of the heroic, mutant X-Men team.
I chose Paul Walker for this role because I think he fits into the role in my opinion. Plus I think he would be great as Archangel when he changes forms during his times with X-Force.
Now for Ant-Man/Eric O'Grady. Eric O’ Grady was a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent assigned to monitor satellite footage and locate anything out of the ordinary. Eric worked alongside his best friend, Chris McCarthy and fellow agent Veronica. One morning, during surveillance duty, Eric and Chris received a visitor in the form of Agent Mitch Carson, who requested their aid in posing as security guards as he and the real security guards were needed in another part of the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier. As the security guards gave Eric and Chris their guns and departed, Eric realized that Mitch neglected to tell them whether they were meant to keep anybody from entering the door they were guarding or prevent them from leaving. It was at that moment that the door opened up and Eric, in a state of panic, knocked Dr. Henry Pym unconscious. They dragged his body back into the lab and began panicking. Inside that Eric noticed a suit of armor and goaded Chris into trying it on. Chris put on the costume but as he tried to find a way to take it off, he accidentally pushed a button and disappeared in front of Eric’s eyes. Mitch later found out what had happened and confronted Eric about the missing Ant-Man suit. He revealed to Eric that Dr. Pym was working on a new Ant-Man suit for S.H.I.E.L.D. and that Mitch was one of the agents selected to try out for the suits detail. He ordered Eric to keep his mouth shut about the situation. In the meantime, Chris was having difficulty in trying to control the suit in the Helicarrier's ventilation system. The S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier was suddenly besieged by a number of supervillains. Chris entered Eric’s room and was struck by a frightened Eric, momentarily thinking Chris was one of the villains. As Chris told Eric what he had been up to for the past day, Eric’s room came under attack by two villains. Using the code to open his door, Eric pushed Chris out of the way and made his exit. However Chris was shot in the head and killed before the door closed over, preventing the villains from following them. Eric took the Ant-Man costume off the body of his best friend just as the Helicarrier crashed to the ground of Arkansas.
This one is going to get some ridicule but I have an explanation for it. I decided to go with Jensen Ackles due to his horn-dog role in Supernatural (not the kick ass role). I wanted Ackles for Hawkeye (other's for Cap) but I think he would be well suited for this role (not as Pym).
Now for Sentry/Robert Reynolds. Empowered by the enigmatic Professor's secret formula, high school student Robert Reynolds became a superhuman. After trouncing the school bully who had tormented him, Reynolds sewed together a costume and made his debut as the heroic Sentry.
For this role, I decided on Alexander Skarsgard due to his brooding role in True Blood. I would have maybe liked to see him as Thor but Hemsworth looks like he fits.
Now for Ms. Marvel/Carol Danvers. Carol Danvers entered the Air Force upon graduating from high school to pursue her love of aircrafts and her dreams of flying. Carol was a top student at the Air Force Academy and enjoyed a rapid career advancement rising to the rank of Major. Because of her stellar performance, superb combat skills and natural intellect, Carol was recruited into the intelligence field. She ended up serving with the C.I.A., during which time she met and worked with Colonel Nick Fury. While on special assignment with Nick Fury, Carol met the Canadian agent called Logan. The two were eventually paired up and shared a number of adventures together. During one of their infamous escapades, they clashed with the brutal Sabretooth who was working for the Hellfire Club. When Carol was captured by the KGB and imprisoned at Lubyanka prison, Logan was among those who defied orders to save her. Following her affiliation with the C.I.A., Carol took a position with N.A.S.A. as the security director for Cape Canaveral. It was in this capacity that Carol first met Captain Marvel, the Kree warrior, Mar-Vell. Captain Marvel's mortal enemy, Colonel Yon-Rogg kidnapped Carol, using her as bait in his conflict with Mar-vell. In the course of the battle, Carol and Mar-vell were caught in the explosion of a Kree Psyche-Magneton device. The energy bombardment somehow caused Carol’s genetic structure to be melded with Mar-vell's. While Mar-vell was apparently unaltered by the event, Carol was now a perfect hybrid of Kree and human genes. In addition, she possessed all of Mar-vell's Kree knowledge and training. Through this transformation, Ms. Marvel was born.
Ms. Marvel is personally one of my favorite heroines. She's just an all around bad ass. For this role, I chose Yvonne Strahovski due to her bad ass role in Chuck. Plus I think she looks similar to Ms. Marvel. I know I've picked Yvonne as Mockingbird in the past but she could fill this role as well.
Now for Cable/Nathan Summers. Nathan Summers' birth was carefully orchestrated by the geneticist Mister Sinister, who had created his mother Madelyne Pryor as a clone of the mutant telepath Jean Grey. Sinister planned to use Nate as a weapon against his former master, Apocalypse, but Apocalypse learned of this and had Nate captured and infected with a deadly techno-organic virus. After Apocalypse was defeated by X-Factor, a member of the Clan Askani - a sisterhood dedicated to opposing Apocalypse in the alternate future of Earth-4935- offered to save Nate's life by taking him to her own era. Desperate, Cyclops agreed, and Nate was taken 2,000 years into the future of Earth-4935, where the Mother Askani, actually his time-displaced half-sister Rachel, had him cloned in case the virus could not be cured. Minions of Apocalypse attacked and stole the clone, taking it to their master, who raised the child as his heir, Stryfe.
For this role, I can only see Michael Biehn fill it. I mean, he was Kyle Reese...future soldier and father of John Connor. Biehn is my choice as the bad ass soldier.
Now onto Colossus/Peter Rasputin. Growing up on his parents' farm, Piotr Rasputin saw his older brother Mikhail become a Cosmonaut. Mikhail was later discovered to be a latent mutant with energy warping powers, and to keep him secret the government faked his death. In later years, Piotr learned that he too was a mutant, and could transform his flesh into steel, but he was content to use his powers to help his fellow farmers. When a transformed Piotr rescued his sister Illyana from a runaway tractor, he was approached by Professor Charles Xavier, who was recruiting mutants for a new team of X-Men to help save his original students from the sentient island Krakoa.
I chose Karl Urban for this role because I just can't see anyone else. I'm sure there are some muscle bound guys out there that can fill this role but they have to be able to act as well. David Cudmore looked like Colossus, but he couldn't act for crap (why do you think he had so few lines). Plus Urban played a Russian in the Bourne Supremecy.
Now for Daredevil/Matt Murdock. Abandoned by his mother, Matt Murdock was raised by his father, boxer "Battling Jack" Murdock, in Hell's Kitchen. Realizing that rules were needed to prevent people from behaving badly, young Matt decided to study law; however, when he saved a man from an oncoming truck, it spilled a radioactive cargo that rendered Matt blind while enhancing his remaining senses. Under the harsh tutelage of blind martial arts master Stick, Matt mastered his heightened senses and became a formidable fighter.
The latest consensus seems to go with Michael C. Hall (Dexter) and I happen to agree with this one. He looks the part all around. I'm not going to lie, I think Affleck was okay as Murdock but Hall could be better.
Now for Domino/Neena Thurman. Neena was one of many children born to the U.S. government’s Project: Armageddon, designed to genetically engineer the perfect weapon using a precognitive mutant named Beatrice. One of only two survivors from numerous attempts, Neena was stolen away by Beatrice’s cult, the Armajesuits, and delivered to a Chicago priest, remaining in his care until her own mutant powers manifested.
I stick to my guns with Lena Headey (300, Sarah Connor Chronicles). Even in those roles, she's a force to be reckoned with. Especially as Sarah Connor. Bad ass chick w/a gun...awesome.
Now for Human Torch/Johnny Storm. Following his sister, Sue, Johnny joined Reed Richards' crew in a space flight. Riddled with cosmic radiation, Johnny transformed into a flaming monster when the flight crashed back to earth. Calling himself Human Torch in tribute to the World War II era hero of the same name, the youthful Johnny found new adventure as part of the Fantastic Four, proving to be an invaluable if somewhat volatile member of the team.
I would like to see Evans still but he is Captain America now so instead, I decided on Sean William Scott. I know, I know...am I crazy? But if you think about it, he has the on-screen wit and presence as the flashy Johnny Storm. He definitely has to get rid of that 5 O'clock shadow though. This is my choice unless you can come up with something better.
Next up is Invisible Woman/Susan Richards. When a sudden loss of funding threatened to derail Reed's experimental starship project, Reed urged his pilot, Ben, to join him in making an unauthorized test flight before the project shut down. Grimm was reluctant, but accepted the challenge after Sue questioned his courage. Sue and her brother Johnny insisted on coming along as well, wishing to share the risk. The quartet successfully launched into space, but intense cosmic rays penetrated the ship's shielding and irradiated the crew, forcing them back to Earth. On landing, they discovered they had mutated into superhumans, and Sue became the Invisible Girl.
I've picked her before and I'm sticking to it for this role. I am choosing Malin Ackerman because after seeing her in Watchmen, I immediately pictured her as Susan Storm. Alba was alright but I think Ackerman would be better. Plus, I think her on-screen chemistry would be perfect for the role I picked for Mr. Fantastic.
Here is Mr. Fantastic/Reed Richards. When the huge energy-absorbing alien Gormuu sought to conquer Earth, Reed outwitted and destroyed the entity. Partly in response to this incident, government funding for Reed's starship project was cut. By this time, Reed's father Nathaniel had disappeared, having secretly embarked on an attempted time travel journey that took him to the alternate world Other Earth, where he resided for years. Nathaniel had left Reed two billion dollars to fund his work, but the withdrawal of government backing still threatened to kill his starship project. After the Gormuu incident, Reed was more determined than ever to further the advance of space technology, and he convinced a reluctant Ben to help him make a test flight before their project could be shut down. Sue and Johnny Storm insisted on sharing the risk with them and came along for the ride. The quartet successfully launched into space, but intense cosmic rays penetrated the ship's shielding and irradiated the crew, forcing them back to Earth. Once there, the quartet discovered that the cosmic rays had mutated them into superhumans, with Reed gaining stretching powers.
Again, after seeing Watchmen, I immediately saw Billy Crudup as Reed Richards. Don't get me wrong, I liked Iaon Gruffold, but I think he would be better.
Now on to Iron Fist/Danny Rand. Daniel Rand is the son of Wendell Rand, who had, as a youth, visited the mystic city of K'un-Lun, which materialized in the Himalayas once a decade; founded roughly a million years ago by extraterrestrials, K'un-Lun was co-ruled by the aliens' descendants and powerful beings called the Dragon Kings, who were themselves subject to the godlike sorcerer Master Khan. Rand had saved the life of K'un-Lun's ruler Lord Tuan, who adopted Rand as his heir, to the resentment of Tuan's son, Yu-Ti.
Vowing to avenge his parents, Daniel Rand studied martial arts under Lei Kung while growing up in K'un-Lun. At nineteen, Rand requested and earned an opportunity to win the power of the Iron Fist by confronting Shou-Lao the Undying, whose power resided within a flaming brazier. Rand slew Shou-Lao, a feat no other warrior had ever accomplished, and plunged his hands into the brazier, imbuing himself with the mystic energy of the Iron Fist.
This one was tricky for me. I decided to go with Scott Porter because I think he has the potential to become a decent Iron Fist.
Now for Iceman/Bobby Drake. Bobby Drake discovered his mutant power to create ice while in his early teens, yet kept his condition hidden from everyone but his parents. When a bully named Rocky Beasely and his friends attacked Bobby the youngster panicked. Bobby temporarily encased Rocky in ice, thus revealing his abilities for all to see. Believing the boy to be a menace, the townspeople organized a lynch mob. They broke into Bobby's home and overpowered him, but the local sheriff took the teenager into custody for his own protection. Meanwhile, the situation had come to the attention of Professor Charles Xavier.
Professor X dispatched his first X-Man, Cyclops, to contact Bobby. Cyclops went into the jailhouse as planned, but the two began fighting when Bobby refused to accompany him. Caught by the lynch mob, Cyclops and Bobby were about to be hanged when they broke free. Professor X used his mental powers to halt the townspeople in their tracks and erase their memories of Bobby's powers. A grateful Bobby then accepted Xavier's invitation to enroll at his School for Gifted Youngsters and took the codename Iceman.
I think Joseph Gordon-Levitt would be perfect for this role. He is such a resilient actor and he just fits the part. Ashmore was okay but that's about it.
Next up is Havok/Alex Summers. Alexander Summers is the younger brother of Scott Summers/Cyclops. The family weas flying back from a vacation in their vintage airplane when they crashed into a scout ship of the intergalactic Shi'ar Empire, setting the wooden plane ablaze. Their mother pushed the brothers out of the burning plane with the only available parachute, allowing them to escape capture by the aliens. The two boys were hospitalized for injuries they sustained during their landing. Alex left the hospital after two weeks and was placed in an orphanage in Omaha, Nebraska that was secretly run by the master geneticist Mister Sinister. Sinister continued to monitor Alex whilst he lived with his foster family. When he noticed the first stirrings of Alex's mutant powers, Sinister incited the local school bully Vincent, who had caused Todd's accident, to attack Alex. The subsequent stress caused Alex's mutant powers to manifest and he incinerated Vincent. Sinister then placed a genetic lock upon Alex to curtail the development of his powers. As a result, Alex did not become aware of his mutant abilities until after graduating college.
I have picked Justin Hartley for multiple roles but I do think this role could suit him as the youngest Summers brother. I think he would play a pretty good opposite of Marsden.
Now for Nightcrawler/Kurt Wagner. Born in Bavaria to the blue-skinned shapeshifting mutant later known as Mystique, Kurt Wagner was shunned at birth due to his having blue skin, pointed ears, fangs, and a long pointed tail. At the time disguised as the Baroness Wagner, Mystique's true identity was revealed after she gave birth to Kurt, and the pair were chased by an angry mob. Fleeing to the nearby falls, Mystique threw the infant Kurt over the edge and fled. Kurt was saved by his natural father and given into the care of a sorceress and gypsy queen. Margali took baby Kurt to the small Bavarian circus where she worked as a fortune teller as a cover for her activities as a sorceress. Kurt was never legally adopted by anyone, but was raised by all the members of the circus, who had no prejudices against "freaks". Kurt grew up happily in the circus. During his formative years Kurt exhibited tremendous natural agility, and quickly became the circus's star acrobat and trapeze artist with audiences assuming that he was simply a normal human dressed in a demon costume. Kurt was eventually noticed by Professor X and became a member of the X-Men.
I liked Alan Cummings performance in X2 but for some reason, I see Tudyk playing a better Kurt Wagner. He was awesome in most of his movies and his thick German accent from 28 Days (yes a chick flick) just screamed Nightcrawler to me.
My next pick is Nova/Richard Rider. Chosen at random by the dying Xandarian Rhomann Dey to receive his Nova Corps powers, teenager Richard Rider found himself thrust into the role of superhero, a role he grasped with relish.
I just did a New Warriors fanfic and I'm sticking to my guns with Chris Pine.
Last but not least is Psylocke/Betsy Braddock. Betsy Braddock was Sir James Braddock's second child, and like her twin brother Brian, her life was secretly manipulated by Merlyn. Betsy eventually began to develop precognitive powers. She took up modeling, while her powers grew to include telepathy. Agent Matthew recruited Betsy into S.T.R.I.K.E.'s Psi Division and because her father had been a member, she was sent to infiltrate the Hellfire Club, but was warned off by Tessa for her own protection. When the crimelord Vixen secretly usurped S.T.R.I.K.E., she hired Slaymaster to eliminate the Psi-Division before they could expose this. Betsy was eventually kidnapped from the Alps by Mojo, brainwashed, given cybernetic eyes, and, as "Psylocke," became the star of his new show "Wildways." Brian and the New Mutants rescued her, after which Betsy moved to the X-Men's mansion to recover.
I chose Grace Park to portray Psylocke due to the fact that Psylocke has the mind of a Brit in the body of an asian and since there aren't too many British Asians around, Park would do just nicely (even though she's not British). Plus Park can fill the part...in all aspects.
Well...there you have it. Now feel free to pick apart and destroy my picks. Soon I will be giving you my favorite villain roles as well as on the DC side. Enjoy...
