Well, it's in my humble opinion we have never seen an X-Men movie before.. We only had super powered characters loosely based on Marvel Characters that go by the name of Mutants or X-Men. Pfft. I wan't X-Men movies that jump right out from the comics, not just in style and look but actual FEEL of them. Like the great stories yon before. There is a great many veteran directors I would like to see direct this. But I feel like going for a young gun on this franchise. He can grow into it and make his own stamp on a trilogy ala' Peter Jackson with LOTR. The man i am talking about is
Duncan Jones.
When it comes to making Sci-Fi with gripping story and outstanding visuals, this guy just "gets it" much like
Stanley Kubrick did before him.. Actually, his style is almost of clone of Kubrick's and he said many times that the late director was his main inspiration. He has only had one film mostly but it was something special..I suggest you watch "
MOON" and you will get the idea what direction I want this X-Men franchise to go.
On to the casting.
*The X-Men*
PROFESSOR X/Charles Xavier: Jude Law
(Artificial Intelligence, The Talented Mr.Ripley)
Great Actor, has about the right maturity I want for Xavier and look. This story will take place after Magneto's first assault on The X-Men.. Not so much of an origin story as it is a sequel to a phantom origin movie. Flashbacks are a beautiful thing. :)
CYCLOPS/Scott Summers: Jared Padalecki
(Supernatural, Friday The 13th)
Intriguin young talent. Mostly stuck in the TV series world, but the kid shines through no matter what he is in. This role could be his breakout performance as the TRUE leader of the X-Men.. No logan this time. ;)
MARVEL GIRL/Jean Grey: Emma Roberts
(What's Wrong With Virginia, Scream 4)
Much like her co-star, another young but talented actor just waiting for that breakout role.. This is it. From the little I have seen of her she has the goods for Jean.
ANGEL/Warren Worthington III: Armie Hammer
(Blackout, The Social Network)
I love this guy for Angel.. He has the looks, demeanor and size. Plus he would look cool with huge angel wings... Oh yeah, he's a great actor too.
BEAST/Hank McCoy: Benjamin Walker
(Kinsey, Flags Of Our Fathers)
Perhaps the best young actor of the whole film. This guy has the look, size and actual intelligence to play McCoy. He was supposed to play Beast in the FOX abomination but turned it down for obvious reasons.
ICEMAN/Bobby Drake: Zac Efron
(17 Again, Charlie St.Cloud)
Efron is surprising alot of people with his range, going from "High School Musical" to a actual great performance in "St.Cloud". This kid is going places and landing a roll in a huge CBM film. Iceman in actual Ice form through the movie would be a welcome change..Ahem* Singer.
And at last.. We finally have the TRUE X-Men: First Class in film.
Moira McTaggert: Rachel Wiesz
(The Constant Gardener, The Fountain)
The lovely Ms.Wiesz will play Xavier's best homo-sapien friend and confidant.. She also happens to be a brilliant scientist that will help out during the film.
*The Brotherhood of Mutants*
MAGNETO/Erik Lensher: Brad Pitt
(The Oceans Franchise, Inglorius Bastards)
Yes, Brad Pitt for Mags... You got a problem wit dat? Just shows your afraid of big name actors. This guy can eat Fassbender alive in terms of Acting ability and he fits the age i'm looking for this Magneto. In this film Magneto will be more reserved and tired of the war on Humanity.. He buit an abode on a asteroid that orbits the planet called "Asteroid M" only when the heat gets turned up and a missle attack from Earth brings him back into action When he learns of a The Sentinel program it just add fuel to his fire.
MASTERMIND/Jason Wyngarde: Ben Barnes
(CON:Prince Caspian, Dorian Grey)
I know Mastermind is supposed to be older, but this is were i'm taking a small liberty, while keeping true to the source.. Jason will appear young to everyone else because he is a master of illusion.. But in truth he will appear older and more haggard. Not as young and handsome as Ben Barnes. Who just so happens to be a great fit for Mastermind in ways i cannot put my finger on. He will be this franchises version of Mystique if you will. :/
QUICKSILVER/Pietro Maximoff: Alex Pettyfer
(Tormented, I Am Number 4)
I'm not his biggest fan.. Which is probably why I casted him for Quicksilver, I'm not his biggest fan either. But, he looks like Pietro and i'm sure he will do a good job as the "Son of Magneto".
SCARLET WITCH/Wanda Maximoff: Emmy Rossum
(Day After Tommorrow, Phantom Of The Opera)
Love me some Rossum. She doesn't look like Pettyfers twin but it's close enough.. If you wanna make an omlette, ya gotta break some eggs. She is pefect in my opinion for the reality altering mutant.. I just wish she could break the 4th wall in here and say "No more Fox.".. that would be awesome. :D
TOAD/Mortimer Tonybee: Emile Hirsch
(Into The Wild, Lords Of Dogtown)
I almost casted this dude for Beast, but then I realised he is barely 5'9. No good for Beast.. Perfect for Toad. This guy would be a steal playing this role. Kinda looks like a Toad too. :P
PYRO/St.John Allerdyce: Tom Felton
(Harry Potter Franchise, Rise of The Apes)
This won't be Singer's Pyro, thats fer sure.. Sadistic, pychopathic, pyromania. Even Magneto has questions of having him in the Brotherhood. But his hate for Humans is substantial and his power is frightning. Tom Felton could just act like that douche from Potter and he won't miss a beat.. Just amp up the toughness a little. ;)
*The Friends of Humanity*
Henry Peter Gyrich: Jack Coleman
(Bouncers, Heroes)
This Coleman guy just oozes that prick Gyrich. In the film Gyrich will head an Anti-Mutant Black program by the major world goverments. Base of Operations will be Genosha Island.
Senator Kelly: David Strathairn
(Good Night and Good Luck, The Bourne Ultimatum)
While Gyrich attacks the mutants from the shadows, Kelly attacks them in the open. Holding political rally's that make Teabaggers look like Hippies. He spearheads the Mutant Registration Act and is gaining considerable ground in Washington and with the public.
David Moreau: Tim Robbins
(The Shawshank Redemption, Mystic River)
A geneticist and avid mutant mutilator.. He works with impunity in Hammer Bay, Genosha with captured mutants in his laboratory. Akin to something like Frankenstein and Hostel.
Bolivar Trask: Alan Tudyk
(I Robot, Serenity)
Tudyk will play the engineer/roboticist that creates the greatest threat Mutantkind has ever known. With unlimited funding and complete diplomatic immunity on Genosha. Mastermold goes online sometime around 5:00 am in a secret location on Genosha.
Abigail Brand: Shannon Sossamon
(A Knights Tale, One Missed Call)
They put Nick Fury in charge of overseeing The Avengers, I put Maria Hill in charge of looking over the Fantastic 4 and now for the X-Men we get something a little different. The Director of S.W.O.R.D. will have her own plan for the X-Men and will be in report with Xavier AND Magneto during the film. Always in the shadows yet always present. Her true intentions won't be revealed until the 3rd film, but I bet it has something to do with young Jean Grey and The Shi'Arr Empire. ;)
