Last week, comic book fans and comic book movie fans all round the world were shock to find out who will be taking the helm for the upcoming Superman reboot. It will be Zack Snyder, director of such comic book films gems as 300 and Watchmen! When I first find out of Snyder hiring; I first fainted, then I cry (happily), than I had an HUMONGOUS nerdgasm (Okay I only did one of three things, you just have to figure out which one!:<)) because Zack Snyder is DA MAN!! He's the [frick]ing man!! I sometimes call him the Rockstar of Comic Book Movies!! We now FINALLY gonna have a awesome Superman movie with actions and cool special effects and *hopefully* not a open love letter to Richard Donner and the late Christopher Reeve!
And as a added bonus, Christopher Nolan is the producer or "godfather" as Warner Brothers puts it and David S. Goyer has pen the script! You might know these two dudes; one is the director of such AMAZING films as Momento, Batman Begins and oh, the greatest comic book movie of all [frick]ing time, The Dark Knight!! The other wrote such other comic book movies classic as Blade, Blade 2 and the two Nolan Batman including the soon-to-be release third installment! I'm mean really, how can this Superman movie fail with Snyder, Nolan, and Goyer in charge??!! But a good director and a good producing and a good screen writer needS GREAT actors to bring their creation alive on the big screen to make it work and by now everyone are already making polls and fan cast debating who should star in Superman. Now I have in mind who I think should and MOST play the roles in the film but rather than doing the "normal" typical Man of Steele fan cast that so many others before me done, I thought of something kinda original; predicting who could star in Man of Steele! See, I solely base this on the Godfather of the Superman Franchise Chris Nolan since he is known to cast big name actors in his movies. In The Prestige, where else can you see Batman, Alfred, Wolverine, Gollum, The Black Widow, and Ziggy Stardust all in one movie?? Nolan loves, and I mean LOVES casting award winning actors and actresses in his films! The movie Inception has two Oscar winners and four Oscar nominees and its already been call one of the best film for this year. So for this week, I'll be doing 3 editorial on the POTENTIAL Superman casting calls. These are base on who Nolan might wants, who the studio Warner Brothers also might wanna to call their agents to, andwho Zack Snyder wants as the title role and the supporting cast. Man I already hearing the outrage and the collected "Huh??!!" from you all! Let me make it clear; this is not a fan cast. This is a editorial on who the PRODUCER and THE DIRECTOR "might" cast in the reboot and like I mention, Nolan LOVES big name actors in his films. Yes, Leo is super well know (Pun: no intention) yes he is a bit small to be Superman -he's either 5'11 or 6'0- and yes, he's been in so many dark and gritty movies but hey, why not?!! Why Superman have to be play by some 20 something kid who got off a bus from the Midwest to Hollywood and is right away playing the Greatest Superhero of All Time? Why always go with an no-name, who-cares, unknown actor? Is there a rule that Superman can not be play by an well known, well like actor? If there is than rules are meant to be broken!! Look, I'm a huge DiCaprio fan, he's a FANTASTIC actor, one of the best for any era and no, he's not my first choice to play Superman but since this movie project is basically Nolan's baby and since Leonardo was in Inception and he is part of the casting rumor as to playing The Riddler in Batman 3, I thought if Leo not The Riddler or any other Batman villain, Nolan could possibly save him for Man of Steele. And so what Leo might be under 6 foot tall? I don't need to remind you how tall Hugh Jackman is and how small Wolverine really is! With camera angle and elevated shoes and a little movie magic, you might actually believe Leonardo DiCaprio is over 6 feet tall. Was Billy Crubup REALLY bald, naked, and blue in Watchmen? NO! Was those really abs in 300? Hell no! Oh and I get Leo has blond hair; there is a thing call hair dye, you might have heard of it?? Plus with intense training and daily regiment of healthy body supplements (*cough steroids! *cough! *cough HGH! *cough! *cough find Canseco number! *cough) he could help Superman be taken seriously.

Now this is what I meant by no being my choice because there are reports or rumors Natalie Portman is interested in playing Lois or Warner Brothers are interested in casting her as Lois Lane and I think its a bad idea. Not because I think Natalie Portman is a bad actress, she's a talented but she is already in Thor, why put her in Superman? When you get down to it, Jane Foster and Lois Lane almost the same person, not on personality or physical appearance but they are both women who are in love or have relationship with men who are granted God-like powers and abilities. But if in fact Natalie is Lois Lane, it would piss me off and make me not seeing the movie, is just she has Thor. Stay with Marvel!

So I for one am not a happy camper if it true because we were all promise an different take on Superman and it will be fun and believable and sources says the script has Lex Luthor and Brainiac in the movie. Well guess not since its been reported, by one site mind you, Man of Steele is an continuation of the Richard Donner's Superman movies and the main antagonist is General Zod! BOOOOOO!! Sorry but might as well bring Gene Hackman out of retirement and have him play Luthor again! Why call it a reboot and write in a villain that was done 30 years ago? Now Batman Begins was a complete reboot for the Batman movie series and it has villains that were never done before in a mainstream movie with The Scarecrow and Ra's al Ghul. If in Batman Begins, the villains were Catwoman and The Penguin than that's really not restarting the film franchise now is it?! But its Superman and I'll watch it anyways when it comes out so whatever. And if Zod is the villain than please be GB! It might happen with Snyder at the helm and 300 was the last watchable Gerald Butler movie!

Get a chance to see Bobby and Constantine and you'll see what I mean. Remember the director of photographers or whatever who works with Christopher Nolan in almost every of his movies mentions in a interview Nolan loves to watch Michael Bay movies? Shocking, huh? Maybe Nolan dig Transformers and really like Shia Labouf and probably wants him in his movies? Well now he can!

Sure Michael Caine is Alfred in Batman but remember, Superman will be in a separate movie universe! There won't be any crossover Batman/Superman movies because Chris Nolan doesn't want it! Christian Bale can play someone in Man of Steele and it'll be OK because he's not Batman or Bruce Wayne and because Superman is the sole superhero in his world! So why not have Michael Caine as Pa Kent?

OK so now things get interesting! You know how people complain Lex Luthor is in every Superman movies with the exception of Superman 3? Now what if Goyer didn't write Lex Luthor in Man of Steele but instead his right hand WOMAN, Mercy Graves, is staying put, keeping an eye on LexCorp and Superman while Lex is either in jail or disappear somewhere in the world, planning his next diabolical plot?! His present is there, like in Sherlock Holmes where you don't see Moriarty but you see his shadow and only hear his voice. That might happen in Man of Steele; Luthor is there but not "there" you know? Make people know he's still alive and he will be in the sequel.
