Justice League Fan Cast
Yep. It's time for another of my fan casts. I felt really good about God of War. This is a project that I had been working on for a while now. I hope you all enjoy.
Another MCott62094 fan cast. This time, the DC superhero team up, the Justice League
Premise: This is the fan cast of a first movie in a possible series of movies. I didn't want to do a whole franchise this time.
Heroes: The Justice League themselves.
Matt Bomer (Suits) as Superman/ Clark Kent/ Kal-El
READ THIS: Don't worry!!!! Like everyone else, I'm gonna give Henry Cavill a chance in Man of Steel. Ok, but when I write a fan cast, I like to try (attempt) to make choices that NO ONE ELSE has considered or made before. And Cavill is actually playing Superman, and everyone fan casts him as Superman because of that. Like I said, I'm trying to be original.
Matt Bomer, in the past was considered a lot for Batman. Personally, I see him more for Supes. He just has the look. And he has showed he his a great actor in the past. On a side note, I also think he has a jaw line that would be great for Superman.
Danny Pino (Law and Order: Special Victims Unit) as Batman/ Bruce Wayne
Of all the heroes I've ever fan cast, Batman has always been the toughest. I don't know why. However, I considered Pino after watching Law and Order SVU. When I go for Batman, I go for someone who has that sort of Darkness to him, and I really felt that with Pino.
Kelly Monaco (General Hospital) as Wonder Woman/ Princess Diana/ Diana Prince
A lot of you probably just stopped reading because you don't like soap operas. Well, I'm sorry. But soaps are this untapped resevoir of potential actors to use in fan cast. Kelly is great at portraying raw emotion.
Armie Hammer (Mirror Mirror) as The Flash/ Barry Allen
I also considered Josh Dallas for the role, but the idea was dropped. I only considered Dallas because I wanted to use his girlfriend Ginnifer Goodwin as Iris.
I originally considered Wally West, but I went with Allen because he's the classic Flash.
Hammer is becoming more and more prominent in Hollywood, starring in films like The Social Network and Mirror Mirror and is even set to appear in the upcoming movie adaptation The Lone Ranger. He comes off as sort of cocky to me, so I thought he'd be great as Flash.
Scott Speedman (Last Resort) as Green Lantern/ Hal Jordan
I used Speedman as Jordan in my GL Reboot fan cast. It is a choice I continue to support. Speedman has that rugged military feel to him that Hal has.
Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond) as Martian Manhunter/ J'onn J'onzz
Personally, I'm surprised I was the first to think of this. Like really really surprised. It just seemed like such an obvious choice to me. Hounsou just has that commanding presence that Manhunter seems to have.
Daniel Lissing (Last Resort) as Aquaman/ Arthur Curry
I am fairly certain you have not heard of Lissing unless you've seen Last Resort. But he looks like Aquaman. He's also a phenomenal actor. It's a shame Last Resort was canceled, it was a good show. But I digress.
Civillians: The powerless characters. This section mostly contains love interests and other people with ties to the league. Be warned, you will see a lot of "I used this choice in my last fan casts..."
Bryce Dallas Howard (The Help) as Lois Lane
As I said with Superman, I try to make cast choices no one has made before. That being said, I didn't go with Adams. Howard's characters are always these really strong female characters, and Lois Lane is a very strong female.
Meghan Ory (Once Upon a Time) as Selina Kyle
The last time I fan cast Batman, I used Ory as Kyle. It's a choice I continue to support. She's hot and a good actress. For a JL film, I don't think we would see Kyle as Catwoman.
Sam Neill (Daybreakers) as Alfred Pennyworth
When I try to stay original, it's really hard to cast Alfred. Because any British actor you think of...has already been used. While not exactly British (in fact, he's from New Zealand), Neill is a great actor who would be amazing as Alfred.
Dennis Quaid (Pandorum) as Police Commissioner James "Jim" Gordon
Let me say that while a good choice, Brian Cranston is EXTREMELY overused. I'm not sure how original this choice is. But I do like it. Quaid is great at tough guy type roles.
Barbara Hershey (Once Upon a Time) as Queen Hippolyta
I wanted to go with Lynda Carter, you know as a nod to the Wonder Woman series, but it's been done. So I looked through older actresses (50s-60s) and I came up with Barbara Hershey. I saw her in Black Swan as Natalie Portman's mother...she was amazing! She now guest stars on the ABC fantasy drama Once Upon a Time which is how I started considering her for Hippolyta.
Jerry O'Connell (Mockingbird Lane) as Steve Trevor
I used O'Connell in this role when I did my Wonder Woman fan cast. I continue to support it. O'Connell is a versatile actor.
Katherine McPhee (Smash) as Iris West
I felt really limited with actresses. I wanted to stay in the 20s age range because Hammer was in that range. However, all the actresses in that range looked like teens. McPhee not only looks like an adult, but she's a great actress. If you don't believe me, watch Smash. Plus, it also helps that she's hot.
Olivia Wilde (The Words) as Carol Ferris
Like Speedman as Hal, I used Wilde as Ferris in my Green Lantern reboot article. It got a lot of praise. And I mean...it just works! Wilde's characters are usually strong and confident...as is Carol.
The next character is news anchor G. Gordon Godfrey. I have two choices for him.
Option 1: Tim Curry (The Rocky Horror Picture Show)
I chose Curry because he voices Godfrey in Young Justice, and it just feels right. If this movie was ever made, and Godfrey was in it, I'd want Curry to play him on screen.
Option 2: Christopher MacDonald (Requiem for a Dream)
I chose MacDonald because he is know for playing characters who are dicks and he's really good at it. There is also a physical resemblance as you can see.
Villains: The villains appearing in the first film.
Famke Janssen (Taken) as Circe
I have not yet seen Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters so that did not influence my decision to cast Janssen as a witch. Janssen, I've noticed, is better at playing the villain than the hero.
Circe is sort of a minor villain in the film. Wonder Woman chases her to the world of men. The fight against Circe is how the league comes together. Then, there is a post credits scene where Circe is shown, hinting to be a villain in the next film.
Stanly Tucci (The Lovely Bones) as Lex Luthor
NO! I did not cast Tucci because he's bald. I cast him because of The Lovely Bones where he plays the bad guy...and he's amazing at it! He's a really creepy villain, and I think he'd be a great Lex.
Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) as the Brain
I know the brain is an enemy of the Doom Patrol, but in the entire DC universe, he's my favorite villain so I really wanted to use him. The brain is the main antagonist of this film. He teams up with Luthor and uses Luthor's money to fund and build a drone army that will give him world conquest.
I want the Brain to be shrouded in mystery. Only briefly mentioning his past, with some flashbacks (played live action by Cumberbatch).
I went with Cumberbatch because he has a deep sort of threatening voice. And if you add a digital tone to it like with Glenn Shadix in the Teen Titans series (only not as technological, leave some human in it), he would sound really creepy and be really threatening.
Andy Serkis (Inkheart) as Monsieur Mallah
Mallah is the Brain's right hand, bodyguard, and enforcer. I chose Serkis because when he was doing Rise of the Planet of the Apes, he learned how to move like and ape, which I think would be a benefit over CG. Plus, like Cumberbatch, he has that threatening voice.
Cam Gigandet (Tresspass) as Deathstroke/ Slade Wilson
This has nothing to do with Twilight. I never saw that horrible thing! But Gigandet played a villain in the movie Trespass, which while not a great movie, made me consider him for Deathstroke.
In this film, Deathstroke is a mercenary hired by the Brain and Luthor to test the League's abilities.
