Robert Garlen Cast: The Running Man

Robert Garlen Cast: The Running Man

My take on a re-adaptation of Stephen King's Sci-Fi Masterpiece, with the intention of making a more faithful adaptation then the Arnold Schwarzenegger Movie of the same Name.

Ben Richards [Height: 6', Age: 28]: Unemployed, Ben Richards entered the games building on the hopes of earning money to feed his family, Wife Sheila and Daughter Cathy, and more importantly pay for his daughter's medical bills and to cure her numerous diseases. Ben is a very meek man, frail, but intelligent and calculating.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt [Height: 5' 10", Age: 32, Notable Works: Kill Shot, The Dark Knight Rises, Looper]: As I was reading the Novel I couldn't help but think of Joseph as Ben. His performance in Looper {Particularly Act 3} was the perfect performance for Ben Richards. I think if anyone can actually bring Ben to life the way Stephen King/Richard Bauchman wrote him, it is without a doubt Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Sheila Richards [Height: 5' 8 {Estimated}, Age: 26]: Wife of Ben Richards and Mother to Cathy, who in the years Ben has been unemployed has fought off starvation by hooking, until Ben's conscience snaps and forbids her from doing it ever again. The leading argument causes Ben to drift off into the city and to the games building.

Emily Blunt [Height: 5' 7", Age: 30, Notable Works: The Devil Wears Prada, The Adjustment Bureau, Looper]: Again her performance in Looper was magnificent and a perfect rendition of what's needed for the role. Of course it's a small role, but a very necessary one. Emily is the type of actress who i think would take the role and sell it perfectly.

Jimmy Laughlin: Another contestant who Joins the Running Man and heads south until being caught by Evan McCone and the Hunters.

Daniel Cudmore [Notable Works: X2: X-Men United, X-Men The Last Stand]: The reason I'm Using Daniel is because Laughlin is such a different character from Richards, that i wanted an actor who would seem almost like a jarring opposite from Joseph. Dan's a good actor and could definitely be shown as being a more popular choice to win The Running Man as opposed to Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Ben Richards.

Stacey Throckmortin: A young boy who finds Ben Richards and takes him in, in exchange for New Dollars that allows him to buy his younger sister morphine to help her adjust to the fatal cancer she's suffering from.

Jaden Smith [Notable Works: Pursuit of Happieness Karate Kid, After Earth]: He's a great kid actor and really the only one i could think of that would be a great choice for the role of Stacey Throckmortin.

Bradley Throckmortin: Stacey's older brother and the member of a gang who keeps in contact with a technical genius {Elton Parrakis} allowing the Boston gang to develop "nose protectors" allowing them to breath the polluted air without any of the dangerous side-affects {that led to Cassie Throckmortin's (Bradley and Stacey's sisters) cancer}.

Brandon T. Jackson [Notable Works: Tropic Thunder, Lottery Ticket, Percy Jackson and The Olympians]: Brandon is an admirable actor and would do a great job as Bradley.

Mrs. Throckmortin: The mother of the three Throckmortin children, who willingly aids Ben Richards in his hunt, when learning the circumstances he is under for the Running Man.

Pam Grier [Notable Works: Foxy Brown, Jackie Brown, Coffy]: Pam is a legendary actress. She's been acting for decades and could definitely sell this role and give some real heart.

Virginia Parrakis Elton's Mother who, when her son harbors Ben, Calls the Police and Network turning Richards in out of the fear they would find out and murder her son.

Doris Roberts [Notable Work: The Grass Harp, Grandma's Boy, Play The Game]: Doris Roberts is a great actress. Her work in Everybody Loves Raymond as Marie, albeit comical, did a great job portraying an obsessive mother.

Elton Parrakis: A scientific prodigy, who takes in Ben under the recommendation of his pen pal, Bradley Throckmortin. In just a few hours he gives Ben a leg up by building a standard hovercar, and assists Ben as much as he can especially after his mother's betrayal.

Tyler Labine [Notable Works: Tucker and Dale vs Evil, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Best Man Down]: Tyler is just the right actor for the role. In the novel Elton is described as being a larger young male. Tyler was the guy who entered my mind when reading the novel. His work in Rise of the Planet of the Apes shows how great an actor he really is.

Amanda Williams: An attractive middle-class housewife and mother, who is carjacked and kidnapped by Ben Richards. She initially sees him only as a monster, but after hours of time with him and learning of his family and motivations, comes to respect and care about him

Jennifer Morrison [Notable Works: Warrior, Star Trek, Knife Fight]: Jennifer Morrison is best known for her work in Hit Show "Once Upon A Time" Her role in that series playing a loving mother, as well as her magnificent portrayal in Warrior. She could definitely play the victimized persona we see in Amana in the novel.

Dan Killian [Height: 6' {Estimated}, Age: 40's-50's {Estimated}]: Executive Producer of the Running Man. The main decider on everything that goes on. In the book he's a black man who is presented as a very demonic figure, and does everything in his power to to win. Presenting Ben with the truth that He nor anyone else ever expects the Running Man to have a winner.

Samuel L Jackson [Height: 6' 2", Age: 64, Notable Works: Pulp Fiction, Arena, Django Unchained]: Killian is such a different person from the way Richard Dawson played him. In all honesty he is a much more vile person. His voice and his look in the book instantly resembled Sam Jackson to me. Jackson's got the perfect voice to play the free-vee producer. Jackson is a perfect choice for the role, he's got the look and talent to play the real Killian and would definitely outmatch Richard Dawson's take.

Evan McCone [Height: 6' 2" {Estimated}, Age: 30's-40's {Estimated}]: Leader of the Group known as "The Hunters" The Network's group paid exclusively for Hunting down every contestant on the Running Man.

Karl Urban [Height: 6' 1", Age: 40, Notable Works: Red, Dredd, Priest]: Karl is an actor who is wonderful at portraying the vein monster Evan McCone is. He's done great building a career playing villains and killers. Karl is built for the role.

Robert S. Donahue: A Network Contact Killian puts in a Plane that Richard's Hijacks in act 3.

Wes Bentley [Notable Works: The Hunger Games, American Beauty, P2]: A role like this is just well fit for an actor like Wes. It's not a big role and the kind of actor Wes is is how i see the character.

Fred Victor: Director of the Running Man, who plays to Dan Killian's orders.

Paul Giamatti [Notable Works: Barney's Version, Shoot 'Em Up, Sideways]: He's a wonderful actor who could do a great job in this role.

Bobby Thompson : The real Host of the Running Man. Who along with Killian and Victor, Allows the Public persona of Ben Richards to be tanked into a villainous role.

John Walsh [Notable Works: America's Most Wanted]: The Way the Running Man is set up is a lot like America's Most wanted, and why not have the creator of America's Most Wanted? Bobby Thompson is described as being an older man and the host of the Running Man. I liked the idea of John Walsh as the host after going through some actors that just didn't fit the role.

Composer: A film score (also sometimes called background music or incidental music) is original music written specifically to accompany a film.

Brian Tyler [Notable Works: Law Abiding Citizen, The Expendables, Iron Man 3]: Brian is actually a really good composer and would do a great job bringing the dystopian-futureistic score.

Director: A film director is a person who directs the making of a film.

Pete Travis [Notable Works: Vantage Point, Endgame, Dredd]: After seeing his work with Dredd {Which perfectly captured the cityscape of Co-Op City as written by King} and the film was wonderfully directed. I think if given the right script he'd make a true adaptation of Stephen King's Novel.

Screenwriter: A screenplay or script is a written work by screenwriters for a film or television program. These screenplays can be original works or adaptations from existing pieces of writing. In them, the movement, actions, expression, and dialogues of the characters are also narrated. A play for television is also known as a teleplay.

Alex Garland [Notable Works: 28 Days Later, Sunshine, Dredd]: He did what could have been considered the impossible by adapting the Judge Dredd Comic Book into a wonderful action film. As a novelist with a great filmography, is best suited for scripting the re-adaptation of the Running Man.

This concludes my take on a readaptation of The Running Man!

Great cast! I don't know much about these characters, but based off of what I know, these actors seem to fit extremely well. You have some serious talent here.
