What If?... part 4

The year is 1995. Note that I wouldn't truly want to see Hollywood over saturated in such a way. This is pure amusement to have so many movies, as there will be much more to come. As I was saying The Hulk follows DareDevil '92, Punisher '93 (a reboot of the original '89) and Spiderman. Spiderman starred John Malkovich in the role of the corporate mastermind, Norman Osborne, who played a bit role in Punisher. The Kingpin, who played the major villain in DD also appeared in Spider thus connecting the 3 movies. Check those fancasts out for more info

Banner would be a scientist, along with Samuel Sterns and Betty Ross, that are working on the duplication of the super-soldier serum for a CIA-type organization known as SHEILD, and have been for a VERY long time. In charge of the project is the father of Betty, General Ross. His right hand is Glenn Talbot. A psychiatrist has been assigned to these 3 as they have had no contact with anyone outside of the lab for a VERY long time.

The Hulk cast of 1995

Timothy Hutton (35 years old) as Dr. Bruce Banner

The Dark Half; Ordinary People

I chose Hutton because I feel the popularity of Bill Bixby's Banner was hard to follow. It needed someone with a solid acting ability. Someone that could appear weak yet have enough charisma that a movie could rest on his shoulders and the Bixby era would not overwhelm this movie.

Jennifer Jason Leigh (33) as Dr. Betty Ross

Single White Female; Georgia

I've enjoyed all of the movies I've seen her in and she has won multiple awards. She has to be seductive and intelligent enough to win the hearts of 3 completely different men as well as bold enough to be the only person to stand up to General Thunderbolt Ross. I believe she can handle that

Kevin Connolly (21) as Rick Jones

WHY HAS HE NEVER BEEN IN A HULK MOVIE B4 (and a name reference does not count)?

Angus; Unhappily Ever After

Originally Jones is saved by Banner, and in turn, Banner gets overexposed, but I'd play it differently. Hulk's 1st rampage is interrupted when the behemoth sees the young man's life in danger. As the military are closing in on the GReen Goliath he knowingly risks being captured in order to save Rick. As he runs/leaps off to a safe place with Rick, Rick tells him his name and he repeats it with a moment of King Kong-esque softness until jets arrive to kill him. He escapes and blah blah blah.

I chose Connolly because, even after all of these years, I still remember him, and if it's not from that horrible Married With Children ripoff of a show than I don't know what it's from. So he must be a good actor. I remenber him being a smartmouth which is what I imagine Jones to be.

*** James Coburn (67) returns as General Ross

My reasons why are previously mentions in Punisher

Christopher McDonald (40) Glenn Talbot

Quiz Show; Best of the Best 3

Arrogant as can be, Talbot would be played to perfection by McDonald. The confidence of Talbot is somewhat alluring to Ross until his cockiness becomes a huge turnoff. The weaker, nervous Banner is a polar opposite of him

Gary Sinise (40) as Dr. Samuel Sterns

Forrest Gump; Apollo 13

The senior scientist who becomes the Leader in the movie. The 3 are working on the project as a malfunction occurs. When Ross and Talbot manage to get the door open Banner is able to shove Betty through B4 the door is shut again for the safety of everyone else. With Banner and Stern stuck inside, Banner heroically jumps onto the eye of the Radiation hub to shield Sterns as much as possible. In doing so he throws Sterns into glass, slicing open his head deep. Although Banner absorbs most of the radiation, Sterns gets some as well.

As Hulk devastates the lab Sterns, glowing, is rushed to medical. Sterns becomes upsessed with aquireing the power of the Hulk and looks to capture him B4 Ross. He soon realizes that he can easily manipulate, if not mind control, non-radiated individuals.

I chose Sinise because of his sneaky look and his command presence.

Christopher Lambert (37) as Doc Samson

Highlanders 1,2,3; Greystoke: Tarzan

Samson, the psychiatrist assigned to keep them sane/working has fallen in love with Betty, and she him.
His intelligence and kind nature are what he shares in common with Banner, the way he carries himself and his assurance in his good looks are in stark contrast to Banner.

Samson is thrown threw a brick wall immediately after Banner's transformation, landing on the radiation hub. He immediately develops super strength and drops from a jet (after Hulk runs off with Jones) and battles with Hulk.

After a minute of holding his own, Hulk says "BETTY" and Samson is killed.

I chose Lambert for his looks.
he screams Doc to me, I like him but I don't love him as an actor. His smirk is very Samson-like if that makes sense.

Tom Berenger (46) as Nick Fury

Born on the 4th of July; Platoon

He's the whole reason for the experiments. He drives the plot

Why wouldn't I pick him. I am tired of hearing ppl say Bruce Willis is Fury, this guy has the look and attitude. He's a bit heavy now as he's 61 but back then he WAS Fury.

Dolph Lundgred (38) as Rhino

Rocky 4; The Punisher

His chance of redemption given to him by Marvel after his run as Punisher

This would be the knock out drag out battle of the movie

I've always liked that Rhino was able to go toe-to-toe with Hulk, and that he could late be used in Spiderman. Before the explosion, he, a prisoner of SHIELD, was to be used as the guinnie pig for the super soldier project just in case something went wrong. After witnessing the tranformation of Hulk and the evolution of Doc Samson, Fury and Ross decide to suit up Rhino, inject him and promise him freedom of he takes down the Hulk.

The 1st conflict ends quickly after he knocks Hulk off of a cliff and doesn't follow despite seeing Hulk survive a get away. He ditches SHIELD and is swayed to follow Stern and attack Hulk once more.

His suit is reminiscent of a rhino in that it's thick, gray and has 2 kind of-horn-things on top.

Val Kilmer (36) as Dr. Henry Pym and Julia Ormond (30) as Dr. Janet Pym

Kilmer --- Tombstone; Heat Ormond --- Legends of the Fall; First Knight

I chose him because, at this stage of his career, he was on a role and this would prevent his turn as Batman. He's a young hero-type actor with outstanding acting ability. I chose her for her unbelievable beauty and her juggle between strength and frailty in First Knight.

They are SHEILD scientists who are contacted right before the movie ends after Hulk disappears 1 final time. Fury is led in by Janet as he says something in the line of "The Hulk is loose out there and it's our job to stop him before he destroys cities at a time. Have you 2 got that suit you've been working on ready." Right before she walks him into the lab she says that it's ready but he gets bad headaches when he activates for to long. "Doesn't matter, he takes down that monster and he'll never have to wear it again."

They walk in and Giant-Man turns around and asks how he looks... role credits

In the climax, Sterns is killed and Rhino escapes.

If Hulk did come out in 1995, Bruce Banner instead of Timothy Hutton playing him, I would cast Tom Cruise
