Guillermo Del Toro briefly talks about Thor, Doctor Strange, and creating his own Disney Cinematic Universe with Iron Man Director, Jon Favreau.

So Del Toro was offered Thor 3 years ago by Avi Arad. Think he would've done a better job than Kenneth Branagh? It was rumored years ago that Del Toro was approached but apparently he did actually receive an offer that fell through for unknown reasons.

Del Toro also takes his name out of the running for directing Doctor Strange. There was a rumor a while back (years) that Del Toro would direct a movie about the Sorcerer Supreme, based on a script written by the venerable Neil Gaiman. Sadly, this never came to pass, which is what Del Toro is alluding to in the video.

And as for a shared Disney Cinematic Universe?* I just have one question. What Disney character would be the equivalent of Nick Fury and bring Mickey, Donald and Goofy together?

*Editor's Note: Del Toro and Favreau are talking about connecting The Haunted Mansion (Del Toro) and Magic Kingdom (Favreau) together, not necessarily classic Disney characters.

Obtw, I'm pretty sure Favreau's doing Magic Kingdom and Del Toro's doing Haunted Mansion.

Oh and on a note both topical with this and with the recent Blade comment from Wesley Snipes: Like many Auteur directors, Del Toro's films all link into the same Del Toro universe. So if his Haunted Mansion is in the same world as Magic Kingdom, tehn Magic Kingdom is pert of the same universe as Blade II. Now if Favrau were to suddenly be one of these autuer directors that link all their work together, then that would mean that Magic Kingdom (and as such) Blade II would be in the same universe as Iron Man, which is the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As such, the original Blade trilogy would be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, by default. And as such, they can't reboot Blade.
Y'get alla that?

Thor in terms of acting and character development was pretty good, visually was great especially Asgard. I think Del Toro's Thor would look more organic, closer to the mythological references, more "viking", darker. I'd love to see what would he do with Thor visually.

F Del Torro. Hellboy 2 was awful, he said he'd do Dr. Strange, but no cape... he should make quirky weird small movies and stay away from CBMs.

although i felt the Haunted Mansion with Eddie Murphy was fairly good and yes it may be too soon to remake it...I feel very strongly that Del Toro would bring the creepiness that a HM movie deserves. I am 100% for him doing a HM film!!! Bring bring it bring it bring it!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would also love to see a del toro and Faverau team up and do a Kingdom Hearts CG film!

Yeah, I didn't need Toro's stubby fingers on THOR. His art departemnt is too freakishly weird for THOR. He was born to make an ARMY of DARKNESS movie. I don't know why he's running from destiny.

Johnny Depp for Doctor Strange and David Yates for the director.

Man, if Del Toro says hes not doing Hellboy 3, i officially dont care about his movies anymore. So far he has:
-Dropped out of the Hobbit
-Said he's doing Haunted Mansion remake instead of Frankenstein
-Dropped off Dr Strange list.

Del Toro would be great choice to direct Doctor Strange but cause he is off the list i think Marc Caro & Jean Pierre Jeunet (The City of Lost Children, Dante 01), Tarsem Singh (Immortals, The Fall), Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean), Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later, Intacto), Michael J. Bassett (Solomon Kane), Alex Proyas (The Crow, Dark City) or Darren Aronofsky (The Fountain) would be good choice.

Oh man, a Doctor Strange movie written by Neil Gaiman and directed by Del Toro would have probably been the best comic book movie of all time.

Considering how amazing the two Potter films were and how amazing they did at the box office. Topped with just how faithful to the core material David Yates was and translating it onto the big screen, it amazes me that everyone is overlooking him for Directing Doctor Strange.

I like Del Toro but the man is only one guy he can't make everything. Doctor Strange would be his type of thing to do I can see it working quite well.

Nolan has a pretty hard hold on WB and DC and I think Marvel is scared of getting into the same situation.Del Toro now has some clout. I don't think marvel will pick any actors or directors currently at "the top of their game" or "hot" If you remember RDJ was not really wanted because of drug use before IM1 and Favreau was hot at all.

He'd have been good, but I think Branagh was perfect for the first film, Now they can go bug nutty with the action. As for Dr. Strange that's a shame cause he woulda been perfect for it.
