If The Hunger Games sequel shoots this summer, then I'm pretty sure they could work things out. They filmed the first film from May 2011 to September 2011. IF Fox decides to move forward with FC 2 by fall, I don't think we are in for 2013 release. They will give Vaughn more time. Maybe summer 2014 release date, like what Sony did with Spidey. They started filming that one in late 2010.

WolvieCBM - 3/16/2012, 6:32 AM
Also, studios are not looking to shoot their films at the same time. Summer for HG sequel, fall for FC sequel.

Umm, I think THR wouldn't get things wrong. If there was no potential conflict, they wouldn't write the article.
WolvieCBM
WolvieCBM - 3/16/2012, 6:43 AM
Haha, no, I mean you wrote that studios are looking to start shooting their films at the same time. Report says HG 2 in summer, FC 2 in early fall. And yes, there could be a conflict if Hungers Games sequel is not finished shooting until early fall. That's the main problem for both Lionsgate and Fox.

Ok, I'll say roughly the same time then.

:( and there was me hoping for a 2013 release for the X-men First Class sequel.

@MoonKnight91 - Since Jennifer is bound by contracts with both studios, it will be those studios that create a solution. Fox will win overall, but like WolvieCBM stated "...if Hunger Games sequel is not finished shooting until early fall. That's the main problem...", so in that scenario we can assume Fox would delay shooting Jennifers scenes until late fall.

why would mystique have such a major part that the two films would conflict? seriously, mystique needs to NOT be a big part of the sequel

She's going to be replaced by Roy Schneider. It's going to be called X-Men: First Class: Part Deuce Bigalow: Mutant Gigolo. It will win Oscars!!!

Lord Loki has spoken

I think Rob Schneider is the way to go. He has portrayed women before, and is the right height.

Be a shame to replace her but Mystique is a shape shifter so it can easily be explained.
Sanderman

At least she's the best possible character that you can replace without worrying about continuity screw ups. It's the one character that can look like whoever they want!

@Bastard

Oh yeah, no...that'll never happen. When the five year mark hits again, and rights to the franchises are up for Marvel's taking again, Sony will just squirt out another Spider-Man, and FOX will just spawn another X-Men/Fantastic Four, and MARVEL WILL NEVER GET THEIR SHIT BACK EVER.

@Nomis so right! there was a HELLUVA lot more appeal when she was being played by rebecca romijn and kept her mouth closed.

I really could care less if this one gets a sequel. I liked and own the first, but it so damned far from anything established in the comics, or the Singer movies, or cartoons, that I would rather they just leave that as a one and done. Reboot that shizz with a better attempt at respecting the source material that prompted Fox to buy the rights to the X-Men in the first place.

Better yet, in a perfect world, they should realize how badly they (20th Century Fox) suck, and sell the movie rights back to Marvel/Disney. And they should also apologize for that abortion of a Wolverine movie.

Easy way to write Mystique out of the next X-Men, or reduce her to a minor role - Have her become pregnant, and give birth to Nightcrawler at the end!
Newbus
Newbus - 3/16/2012, 10:42 AM
The films are so out of sync with each other anyway so Mystique not being in a sequel wouldn't matter.

Xmen sequel wont be released next year, so Fox have more than a year to shoot it, during 2013.

Hunger games shoot can start this year, and X-men next one.

I dont see the problem.

Maybe this is just a publicity stunt.

So buy the time The Hunger Games comes out on DVD Catching Fire will have started filming already? That seems kinda fast. I guess they want to be like Twilight and have a movie come out each year. There are only 3 books so they should space the movies out a little.

I hope she is able to do both movies! I rather see her play Mystique then Katniss, lol.

Might be a little problem to film both around the same time since she lost alot of weight after playing Mystique to play Katniss.

She needs team to gain and lose weight, lol.
WarnerBrother
WarnerBrother - 3/16/2012, 12:41 PM
There's only so many movies Marvel can produce in a year, especially since they have to fit those movies under a Disney release schedule. If they got the rights to Spidey and the X-Men back,Marvel would make those movies at the expense of lesser known properties like Doctor Strange,Antman,The Inhumans or the cosmic heroes.Face it,Disney wants a wide range of films not just CMBs all year long so Fox and Sony are really doing them a favor by making their Marvel films. We should hope instead that those other studios would let Marvel have more creative impute in the productions. That's about the most reasonable thing we could expect because those studios will not give the rights back until they are sure that the genre is dead or at least in a long period suspended interest by the public.

if she can make it, cool. if she cant, just glue the blue scales to someone else. after all mystique is a shapeshifter....

I think she's going to pass up First Class 2 for the Hunger Games sequel.

I don't like the idea of Mystique already being recasted. They could just not include her in the sequel.

@Wildaniel I would rather she come back and play Mystique too.

Ryguy88
Ryguy88 - 3/16/2012, 7:12 PM
I'm sure she will film both no problem. Some actors pump out 4 films a year. 3 months for Hunger Games and 2 months for X-men, plenty of time.
Ryguy88
Ryguy88 - 3/16/2012, 7:17 PM
Looks like she worked out a little more for her Hunger Games role which will also fit the X-men sequel perfectly as she is likely to start snapping peoples necks whilst doing a hand stand.
