ARROW Episode 1x10 "Burned" Poll & Discussion, Promo For 1x11 "Trust But Verify" ARROW Episode 1x10 "Burned" Poll & Discussion, Promo For 1x11 "Trust But Verify"

Arrow returned with 'Burned' and we saw a shaken Oliver still reeling from his confrontation with the Dark Archer. Combined with flashbacks to the island which saw his lone ally captured, the odds were definitely stacked against the Emerald Archer.

Did the first episode after the midseason hiatus meet your expectations?

OLIVER HANGS UP HIS HOOD — Oliver’s (Stephen Amell) confidence is shaken after being beaten by the Dark Archer and he takes a break from being Arrow. However, when Laurel (Katie Cassidy) calls Arrow for help investigating a firefighter’s suspicious death, he reluctantly agrees but his hesitance while fighting almost costs him his life. Meanwhile, Tommy (Colin Donnell) throws a benefit for the firefighters and Thea (Willa Holland) tries to lift Moira (Susanna Thompson) out of her depressive state. Eagle Egilsson directed the episode written by Moira Kirland & Ben Sokolowski (#110).

TOMMY AND MALCOLM HAVE A HEART-TO-HEART TALK AND OLIVER AND DIGGLE ARE AT ODDS WITH EACH OTHER — The next person on Arrow’s (Stephen Amell) list is Diggle’s (David Ramsey) commanding officer and mentor from Afghanistan, Ted Gaynor (guest star Ben Browder). Oliver suspects Ted is responsible for recent armoured truck robberies, but Diggle defends Ted and takes a job at Ted’s security company to keep an eye on him. Oliver decides to make a move on Ted, which puts him at odds with Diggle. Meanwhile, Thea (Willa Holland) suspects that Moira (Susanna Thompson) is having an affair with Malcolm (guest star John Barrowman). Tommy (Colin Donnell) and Laurel (Katie Cassidy) have an awkward dinner with Malcolm. Nick Copus directed the episode written by Gabrielle Stanton (#111).

Great episode. Really interesting take on Firefly, but I'll allow it because I thought it was done well.

I love this show, I really do. But this episode was just kinda weak, Firefly killed himself far too soon and he was just built up and he didn't really have much of a climax as a character. Otherwise, I thought the story itself was good. The ending was really my only problem.

this episode was pretty meh for me. i like the diggle/oliver development, but the episode as a whole was pretty weak. they gave firefly a good character arc until the very end and then he was like "eh i failed so i'm just gonna go ahead and kill myself instead of continuing to seek revenge and kill this green hood guy because hes in my way."

IF ITS A PROGRESSION TO A COSTUME, AWESOME..I LIKE THOUGH THAT THEY ARE COMING FROM A REALISTIC TYPE PLACE GROUNDED, WITHOUT SOMETHING TOO FANTASTIC THAT IT DIVERGES FROM SOMETHING BELIEVABLE..

WE KNOW THEY CAN GO THERE THOUGH..I LIKE WHEN THEY GO THERE,,,

WE SAW HIM (SPOILER)---BURNING HIMSELF IN THE END..I COULD SEE HIM SURVIVING BUT SO BURNED THAT HE NEEDS A FULL BODY SUIT TO KEEP HIS EXPOSED EPIDERMIS FROM MAYBE GETTING INFECTED OR PROTECTED, LIKE A MOBILE "BUBBLE" SUIT...

Meh. I like this show, but I'll give this episode a 6/10. If his name is gonna be Garfield Lynds, make him Firefly. I would have rated it a lot higher if it had just been some random firefighter, or had no correlation to Batman's Firefly, but since they did, it kinda knocked me off and the episode never really recovered.

On a side note, I did rather enjoy Laurel's dad using her against Arrow. Can't wait for the next episode!

So, let me get this straight, Oliver spends five years surviving on the Island, joins the Russian mafia, and beefs himself up into a super-archer… but the first time he gets his butt kicked he calls it quits?

Not to mention all the talking, and not good talking, but emo "This is how I feel" stuff. I'm all for character development but when you have the character give long speeches instead of showing us their hurt or angst or joy or whatever, then not only do you do a diservice to the character, but you basically call your audience idiots who have to have it spelt out for them.

And what's up with the treatment of the villians in this show? They are little more than canon fodder, we get no connection to them whatsoever! We can't be sympathic or scared of them cause they might as well be a common mugger. To top it off, they get killed off, so, yeah. If Arrow is basically Batman, with arrows, then maybe they should look at previous Batman shows to understand how to tell a story, the Batman: TAS did a better job at playing the hero off the villain and giving us real character development... and it was only a half hour long kids show.

To be honest, this whole show has read like really bad fan fic.

I was hoping the final fight with Firefly would've had him and Oliver really going at it.

This was still a great episode though.

And the fact Oliver tried to reach out and help him after all he has done was really surprising and admirable. I wasn't expecting him to do that at all. Even though it didn't end well, Oliver did everything he could to save him.

Diggle has great potential in this show just needs to figure what. And the last part of the show was a real kicker. Other thoughts, writers can consider introducing the villians in the show through the news media Oliver and cast watches prior to showing them on the actual show and killing them off in one episode... lol. That would at least prolong the life of the villians.

It "burned" me that Oliver confronts the Fire Chief about Firefly in the middle of a party. It felt like lazyness from the writers to have him do it this way, making it necessary for him to go change identities while there were people in danger, trying to make it more ecxiting. AND he takes Dina with him when he is about to reveal he knows Firefly is alive! It doesn't make sense, unless he wants Dina to know he is Green Arrow?

Not bad for picking up after the mid-season finale. Not sure I liked what was done with Firefly, though in the modern world its fine, save for the fact that yet another villain died. That's two, counting Dead Shot

I really liked this episode also I like how Arrow tells Laurel "Il look into it" the same line Batman says to Lt. Gordon in Batman Begins at the end when he is handed The Jokers card. DC characters are done great when they are done seriously. A bonus to characters like The Batman & Green Arrow is they are dark as well. I like that a lot.
