"There were three different ways my character could have gone and I think we're taking the most adventurous way," says Colton Haynes on his Roy Harper character in season 2 of The CW's Arrow. Are those three different ways Speedy, Red Arrow and Arsenal?

Flicks and the City caught up with Roy Harper actor Colton Haynes at the opening night of the new West End musical "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" directed by Academy Award winner Sam Mendes. Carefully tip-toeing around spoilers, Haynes stated that he thinks, "Roy will have to go through a little gamut, he's going to have to go through a lot to experience the level that Oliver has because he was fighting for his life for five years. I'm thinking Roy's going to have to be beatdown a lot before he gets built back up." In terms of the three different costumed personas of Roy Harper, there's Speedy, Arsenal and Red Arrow. Of the three, it's the Arsenal monicker that undergoes the most mental and physical trauma.

Touching on the budding relationship between Roy and Thea Queen (Willa Holland), Colton said that there's going to be some surprises next season. "There's a lot of heartbreak and also some unexpected events put a kink in their relationship. " Continuing on with the line of thought that Roy will adopt the Arsenal monicker and the comic book backstory that comes along with it, one of the standout storylines of the character features a run-in with the criminal femme fatale Cheshire which results in a child. That would certainly put a kink in the relationship between Thea and Roy. Then again, that would be a lot of ground to cover in a single season, unless Roy's previously hinted at 'gangbanging past' includes baby mama drama with Cheshire.

"You're going to see a lot of [DC] comic book character that people love coming into the world of Arrow," Colton said of Season 2. He stopped himself from saying anything further but he did add that he's excited for fans to see the development of his character, "There were three different ways my character could have gone and I think we're taking the most adventurous way." Maybe I'm reading too much into that statement but the 'most adventurous' route would certainly be Arsenal.

"After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. When he returns home to Starling City, his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, and best friend Tommy welcome him home, but they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. While Oliver hides the truth about the man he’s become, he desperately wants to make amends for the actions he took as the boy he was. Most particularly, he seeks reconciliation with his former girlfriend, Laurel Lance. As Oliver reconnects with those closest to him, he secretly creates the persona of Arrow – a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and restore Starling City to its former glory. By day, Oliver plays the role of a wealthy, carefree and careless philanderer he used to be – flanked by his devoted chauffeur/bodyguard, John Diggle – while carefully concealing the secret identity he turns to under cover of darkness. However, Laurel’s father, Detective Quentin Lance, is determined to arrest the vigilante operating in his city. Meanwhile, Oliver’s own mother, Moira, knows much more about the deadly shipwreck than she has let on – and is more ruthless than he could ever imagine."

I doubt they'll call him Red Arrow, given the fact that they haven't ever called Oliver "Green Arrow", "Arrow" or even just green yet. I really hate the word "vigilante" now because of this show.

Actually Malcolm called the Hood Green Arrow and Oliver said it was "lame"

And PeterDarker, the show is developing him. He isn't the best Green Arrow he can be yet. By the end, he will be the Green Arrow and called that.

I really hope they start calling him Green Arrow next season. Hearing them say "The Vigilante" over and over again on the show gets really annoying. Especially since it's a 4 syllable word, it's just a harsh thing to hear repeatedly. Even just calling him "Arrow" would be nice.

I don't like it when they say the hood just like in Smallville "the blur". It's like everyone has some type of speech impediment and can't finish a word. The Bluh and The Huuh

Arrow's a great show. Can't wait to see all the developments in season 2. I think Roy will be Red Arrow eventually, but only after Ollie adopts the Green Arrow name.
